I put this into my VCR and it immediately jammed. I had to dismantle the VCR to extract it. I would strongly recommend not buying this.

I bought this product, as i found an old JVC VHS recorder in my parents garage, during a clear out. Out of morbid curiosity, i wanted to see if this unit still worked, even though it was caked in a couple of decades of garage crud and mouse dropping were found inside. As part of the clean up i wanted to clean the heads. But thinking that the VHS unit was beyond dead i didn't want to spend too much on a head cleaner. Nor did i want the faff of using the liquid cleaner process. So this was bought with little of hope of it actually working. After getting a vacuum and air duster in the unit to clean it out, i tried a VHS tape to see if anything would appear on the screen. All I could hear was sound, that was muffled and warbled, there was no image on the screen. I popped in the cleaning tape, let it run to the end, swapped it out with the normal tape and there was an improvement. The sound was clear, but still no images. All in all, i used the head cleaner 8 times to get to a point where sound was clear and the image was stable, without any distortions. So a great value product that does work well. It just depends on how dirty the heads are, but you will see improvement.

I ran this though an ancient Alba VHS recorder. When it got to the end is locked solid and wouldn't rewind. Thanks to another review I found that there is a small hole in the centre of the case near the bottom with a hinged flag inside. On pushing a spike into this I was able to rewind the tape by hand. Repeated this process 4 times but didn't observe any improvement in picture quality. I assume that means the heads are as clean as they can possibly be (I did pull apart the recorder a few years ago and clean everything with isopropyl alcohol). I have just bought another VHS recorder from EBay so will try this cleaner with that and see if I can detect any difference.

Very goog customer support. 1st one arrived promptly but wouldn't work. I emailed link4customers and a replacement was sent out without quibble. This one works. That's good customer service. 4 stars - not 5, to reflect that one product didn't work
