Works well.
With most silverline products this works as it should.....it heats up very quick when plugged in......no frills soldering iron....a good buy for the money.

Cheap, but average performance
Had two of these for a group workshop; they work reasonably well but the tip isn't the best in the world and they don't heat up very well/evenly.They would do for basic work or the occasional hobbyist but won't stand up to extended use.

Did what it said on the label, no problems, it does'nt have a temperature control.
cheap but did the job.

Broke after just one use.
I bought this Soldering Iron for occasional and infrequent use. I used it once and it was satisfactory. The second time I went to use it, it didnt get hot at all and is useless (I have checked the fuse). So, only used it once in about 18 months and by the time I needed it again it was out of warranty.I contacted Silverline and they replaced the item, even though it was out of warranty - Fair Play.

Tough soldering iron
Bought this soldering iron to do some plastic welding on my front bumper (smooth numberplate recess). Soo far it can handle alot of abuse . Honestly thought it would die/pack up because it's cheap but it's still working fine. Good value for the money

Good Value For Money
Despite some poor ratings, I have found this product works satisfactorily. The product feels comfortable in the hand - it heats up quickly and does what it's supposed to. I have had problems though with the Silverline 10-piece bit set bought at the same time. These bits do not fit into the soldering iron without reducing the shaft diameter a few millimetres, something potential purchasers might like to consider before buying. Maybe I will review these comments in a month or two after which time the soldering iron will have been well used.
