Glad I finally got one.
I was holding off on buying one of these and always borrowing a coworker's. I finally got my own, fitted it with an industrial diamond and use it frequently. It's great for when you're grinding tall parts and don't want to bring the wheel down a mile to dress it.

It works
The magnet holds nice and strong, and it is handy in a few situations, but I haven't been able to use it in as many areas as I'd hoped. It does work well for holding an indicator on the ways for measuring carriage travel on a lathe, but you'll want to add some tape to the underside as the edges are quite coarse, and can ding up the ways if you're not careful. Speaking of coarse edges, I had to chase a few of the threaded holes with a tap in order to get the screws to go all the way in. Not a huge deal, as most folks getting a dial indicator holder will also own a few taps. But still for an american made product, I was hoping for a little better fit and finish, so I had to ding it a star

Not mighty.
Was cleverly misguided when looking at this item. The magnets sit long ways on edge instead of flat causing it to obviously be weak and give false reading values in critical environments. It will do in a pinch. Verify rear flywheel housing centricity X15 transport engine, what a pain.

It in the name
Its a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. It lives up to its name. Stays put everytime. Really the only complaint i have is trying to get it up off the steel.

Very usable in a machine shop
These are better than the ones made in China. The ones made in China have the holes threaded crooked. I couldn't find anything wrong with these, the magnet actually feels stronger too! 5 stars all the way.

Works well
I have only used this a couple of times so far, but it is very, very useful. As a woodworker, often I need to sneak up on the fit. For example, I had a tight dado. I measured the dado and the insert board with calipers, calculating the difference. I then used the mighty mag to hold the digital gauge against the saw fence, so that I could "bump" the fence the exact adjusted amount on the first try. This saved me time AND prevented me from going too far and ruining my piece.
