Pickup
Excellent, just provides enough growl as a rhythm pickup in conjuction with a JB Junior lil 59. Good value for money and delivery.

Great metal tones and smooth blues when combined with more traditional bridge Strat pickup

I recently had my strat overhauled with a new custom made neck, pickups, all new knobs and wiring, paint, might as well call it a new guitar. I had the custom shop Texas specials put in. They sounded great, but they were very glassy and only sounded good with light gain and that srv sound. I loved it but I needed versatility. And I wanted a warmer sound and something that liked gain as well. I purchased the hot rails bridge pickup when I first bought my strat a couple years ago. Installed it and then decided I wanted to keep it straight up single coil true strat. Well, after playing with the Texas specials I decided they weren't gonna satisfy me because I change music styles on the fly, and Texas specials don't like that. Anyway long story short... I'm using the hot rails in the bridge and neck, and a jb Jr. in the middle. Freaking love it! They sound sooooo good. Clean to full metal. So glad i went with this setup.

Warm sound. Not as clear and articulate as a single coil but good note definition for a humbucker.

Today I got my guitar back with the newly installed humbuckers. It took a while for the repair shop to get it back, but the sound of the S.D. Black Winter humbuckers with the S.D. SHR-1N is fantastic. I definitely recommend these pickups for metal fans. It used to be an Ibanez HSH guitar. Now it's a monster machine HHH guitar with a serial/parallel/coil split on each individual humbucker.
