Works great
The instructions weren't really clear to me. I put it together but the straps were way too long. I got the idea of using only 1 strap instead of two and it's now at the perfect height. No slippage or anything. If you buy this, try the 2 strap method it suggests but if you find it too long like I did, use 1 strap.

Great, but one annoying issue
I first learned about the X3, then started looking into more reasonable options like this one. I prefer this hook for the bands vs. carabiner style (and I still sometimes struggle to change bands as quickly as I'd like). The only problem is that the strap that goes through the bar is kind of a silky nylon, so tends to slide looser with use. I am short as it is, so want it as tight as possible to get the most out of the bands. I finally gave up and tied knots in the ends. I also thought I might sometimes change the length of the bar, but that would require a lot of strap fiddling, so not something you want to do casually for one or two exercises on a regular basis.

Good bar and great attachment ends
I’d been going back and forth on what bar to get for my looped bands. I kept looking at this J Bryant bar because of the flat e-type hook. Honestly, the pictures of the product make it look a bit “scammy.”The biggest band I use is about an 1-1/4 and is easy to get on and off. No issues of it accidentally coming off. It could easily have a 2-1/2 band (maybe up to 2-3/4).The “so-so” of the product:I wouldn’t really use it for chest press. It’s okay but not great. Squat, shoulders, biceps, and deadlifts are great. For some, the straight bar curl isn’t as comfortable but I’m okay with it.Installing the grey webbing was a little challenging. I made mine the long workout bar and had to thread the webbing and then screw the pieces together as I went. Otherwise the webbing got caught in the tube and wouldn’t budge.Very happy with the bar and hope this review helps if your in between choices.

Impressive
I'm going to go ahead and predict that the sales of the X3 bar are about to drop off quite a bit now that this thing's on the market. This is just super solid. It's a hollow aluminum tube but it's pretty thick wall and has a nice feel to it. Good nerling that's not too aggressive so it doesn't cut up your hands but still it gives you a good grip. The only slight complaint I have is the gap that allows you to load the bands is perhaps a little bit too wide, so the bands do sometimes come off when you take tension off. But of course once you've got it under tension they're not going anywhere as long as you have it completely inside the hook to begin with. All in all very happy with this purchase.

Simple, but effective
This is an effective way to add variation to your training program. I also see this as very efficient and that you don't need all kinds of weights if you're in a tight space, or you have to travel.

Great Concept, Questionable Execution
Like many others who are likely buying this, I was looking for a viable alternative to the X3 bar.I’m theory, this j Bryant bar is perfect. It’s slightly longer than the x3 bar, so it works better for most chest press moves and could even be used for back squats. The bar itself breaks into 3rds so it’s perfect for travel, and actually really sturdy once assembled…as in you can’t even tell it’s 3 pieces even with the heaviest bands I own. It doesn’t budgeThe bar itself also has a great knurling, so it feels a lot like a normal barbell which I really love.I was initially concerned about the hooks - they look sharp on the photos like they would damage my bands..in reality the edges aren’t that sharp, and in checking the bands after…I saw no damage/marks to any band.Where this bar really falls short is with the strap that goes through the middle of it. While at first that seemed like a fine idea, after literally 2 workouts, you can see from the photos above, the strap in my is already starting to seriously fray. Here I thought my bands would give out first, in reality i think this bar might give out first.Given I’ve only owned it for 24 hours and am already seeing such wear, I’m still on the fence about keeping this. Likely it’s going back. It’s a great concept, great bar, good hooks…but there’s no way this strap is in for the long haul.

purchased as an alternative to other band/bar system
assembly is easy. screw three pieces of the aluminum rod together and pull the seat-belt type band through the bar and latch on the band hooks...no prob. i was using an expensive competitor's bar that used ropes and rollers and metal stays for band attatchment. i always found the band attachment to a tedious process with that bar and the bar was quite heavy. this bar is light and easily strong enough to handle the weight that i do and much quicker and easier to place and stack bands on . the light weight of this bar also removes any worry of hurting a foot if a bar is dropped. the knurling on this bar is sane a not overly abrasive. i guess if there are worries of the interior strapping wearing out extremely strong replacements can be purchased cheaply and cut to size...its like seatbelt material. i feel some type of footplate is best for most excercises...there are various choices on the market. i am extremely pleased with this item and hate i put the previous money into the other system.

Makes bands more effective
It helps to have 2 bands (one for each side) to use this most effectively. Great tool to have, although cumbersome if you want to shorten the length of it because of the insert.

The Best Band Bar Ever!
Beautifully finished, sturdy, easy to assemble and add or remove bands in seconds! Can be made shorter (as x3) or longer if you would like. Absolutely love it. And it’s better for a fraction of the price of competitors! You can biy separately good quality bands! Again just love it!
