A Really Short History of Nearly Everything
Brilliant! I got hooked onto this book having found it on a shelf whilst spending an hour in a waiting room. I had to buy one for my 8 year old son who needs encouragement to read. The two of us are going through astro-physics and not only enjoying it but actually understanding it as well. Also to mention, the hardback is far better than the paperback; there are more photos and graphics which make the learning fun and understandable.

A really short history of nearly everything
What did happen to the dinosaurs ? How big is the universe? How heavy is the earth? Why are the oceans salty? Is a meteorite going to hit us? This book attempts to creatively and enjoyably answers these questions

The most useful text book of all time
I loved the original, and always wanted a 'primer' to look up the facts I can't keep in my head. And here it is, in glroius colour and great language. When I saw this, I bought 2, intending to give one to one of my twin nephews and the other to my son (well, me, really). When they arrived, I carefully read one and ended up giving the twins one each as they shouldn't have to share this amazing gift. Bill Bryson is my hero now, and this book is a great gift and a fabulous resource.

A Perfect Book for Inquisitive Children
Although the book was purchase for my grand daughter it has been looked at by the entire family who all agree that is a fascinating read, personally I have previously read Mr. Bryson's books and enjoyed them as an adult, this one is just as good but for Kids.

As a grandparent.
An excellent book for my grandchildren. I bought it in 2013 as an experiment, so see how my grandchildren would like it. Each liked a different section but, as a whole, the book was enjoyed. The sections not liked then will , I am sure, be appreciated later, as our 12 grandchildren range from 8 to 16.

Bought as a gift
I gifted this to my very smart eight year old nephew at Christmas and he was so engrossed in it on Christmas Day that he had to be asked to stop reading and join the others for Christmas dinner. Says it all really.

Perfect book for a curious kid
I bought this for my 7-year-old daughter. She is an advanced reader and has a strong interest in science, so I thought this would be right up her alley. Was it ever! She's toted "A Really Short History of Nearly Everything" to school every day for the last week so she has it for free reading time. The illustrations and photographs are high-quality and interesting, and the explanations are clear and factual. My daughter has needed to ask the meaning of a few words that are beyond her current vocabulary, but that's a great way to learn them. I see this book getting a lot of use over the next few years. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
