Silhouette America CUT-MAT-PIX12-3T Cameo Pixscan Cutting Mat, 8.5"x11.5", Multicolor

Nice mat. Still figuring out how to use it correctly.

I have been a Cricut user for several years and decided to switch to Silhouette when they brought out the new machines. I was intrigued by features that Cricut doesn't have. I won't go into all of those features here. But the PixScan mat was one of those things. Cricut does not have the ability to scan and cut around items like this. The closest they have is taking a picture to use up scraps of vinyl for proper placement on your mat. But with Silhouette, I can now scan in pics of anything like patterned paper, wrapping paper, hand-colored images, etc. and trace and cut out the images perfectly. My first attempt at using this was a huge success and my items cut out absolutely perfect! I am VERY impressed!

I had some leftover Star Wars fabric after making cushions and was eyeing this Millennium Falcon on it thinking it would make a great appliqué, but I had never done that and was a little nervous about it, so I followed this process: 1) attach the fabric to the PixScan mat 2) Take a clear, well lit picture of the PixScan mat (MAKE SURE THE WHOLE MAT IS VISIBLE IN THE PICTURE, ALL THE WAY UP TO THE EDGES) 3) Import for PixScan in the Silhouette app 4) Trace the pattern and make it a cut path 5) Feed the PixScan mat with the fabric still attached, and cut away! 6) Save the cut path as an SVG file 7) Import the SVG file as vector into the embroidery software (I use Embrilliance on the Mac, awesome product) 8) Make two shapes using the imported path, one being a single stitch and the other a wide appliqué stitch (do not resize!) 9) Hoop the fabric and load the design into the embroidery machine 10) Stitch the first path 11) Use sticky spray on the cut out fabric and attach to the hooped fabric using the stitched path as a guide 12) Start embroidering the second path Done! That was so easy and the result looks fantastic. A lot of fun to use, and virtually impossible to do without the PixScan -- you'd have to do it all by hand. If you own an embroidery machine, make sure to give this a try! The Silhouette was already great for its "Print & Scan" capability but the PixScan mat gives it all the functionality of the Brother Scan & Cut without the cumbersome and limiting web app. Must have for Silhouette owners.

This is a very smart addition to the Silhouette accessory lineup! Well made, works well with the program. I warn you, it may take a little fiddling around and some trial and error til you get it saved as a good profile in Silhouette Studio, but once you do, it cuts out most things very well! I think it depends a lot on the quality and angle of your picture, and I usually make sure to cut out everything with a bit of an offset, so that if it's a tiny bit off I don't lose anything crucial. But I've played around with this a bunch and PixScan is an amazing feature, making this mat a great investment! The price makes it an easy decision :)

—————6/4/21 Well I was pretty heated having wasted literally several 14 hr DAYS just trying to get the mat to register. I was at my wits end until I just happened to accidentally load my mat onto the line they say is “only for materials not on a mat” and do you know THE FREAKING THING WORKED. FLAWLESSLY. CONSISTENTLY! So to all the fellow crafters who have torn patches of hair off and sustained multiple ass numbing and cramps playing with this mat, DISREGARD the machine loading instructions and save yourself a LOT of time and blood pressure medicine- at least as far as my new Cameo 4 Pro goes- load it next to the SECOND ( | ❌| 👍🏾)load line, not the first! ———————6/2/2021 The second mat arrived and to my horror doing things the first one didn’t even do despite arriving in much better condition. I mean it was doing the dang cha cha slide during registration and destroying my materials without even beginning a cut!! Because of course the registration fails when your mat is getting pushed out the back or knocked and turned while the housing travels. The one time it actually registered and a 3hr etch job later- you guessed it, alignment still off thanks to the mat not staying in place! The antithesis of a pixscan mat! What an infuriating waste of time!!! —————————6/1/2021 Product arrived beat up and dented before use! The box was fine so it was clearly sent like this. The mat also would not register at all. I am sure the creases and dents did not help! Requested another to be sent I will update this review IF I receive a competent product.

I make stickers for my planner, and was staying frustrated with the basic print and cut function with the registration marks. It wasn't bad, but the cuts were jusssssttt off enough to bother my OCD. I really wanted a more professional look to my cuts, as I periodically sell them. I bought this, and initially, I struggled with it. The process of taking pictures with my phone and getting them transfered into Silhouette Studio took forever, and half the time it wouldn't register the marks on the mat, or said my picture was too low of a resolution to work. Finally I discovered that I could use my scanner to scan the mat directly into Studio, and since then I have had zero problems! I just stick my paper on the mat, lay the whole thing on my scanner and click the 'import from scanner' and that's it! The accuracy of my cuts has been so so so much better. I also don't like how much of the page the registration marks take up, it always seemed like a huge waste of expensive sticker paper. With this mat, I can cut from scraps no problem! If you own a Silhouette, this is really a great accessory to have, especially since its only $10!

Some people have had difficulty getting this to work, but I have had no problems at all. It means I can use all my scraps of card as well as being able to cut out specific items on a sheet, just by taking a photo on my mobile and importing it into the software. It isn't an item that is necessary to get the most out of the Cameo cutter but it makes things a lot easier to do in my opinion.

Si ceramente estaba dudando en comprarlo, por comentarios que vi en internet, sin embargo resultó ser todo un éxito!! Es la mejor herramienta para los que utilizamos cortadora de silhouette ya que te permite aprovechar el 100% de las hojas sin preocuparte de los márgenes de “cortar y luego imprimir”. Lo recomiendo muchísimo

このピクスキャンはスマホ・デジカメ・スキャナーでこのシートごと撮ると原寸でカットラインが簡単に作成できるものですが、ソフトウェアのバグが多いようで思ったようにカットできないときがあります。（カットラインがずれるなど） たぶんソフトウェアの改良がよくなれば結構使える商品だと思います。 今後に期待したいです。 今のところ海外では売られていますが、日本では代理店も販売をしておりません。 ここのお店のみでしか取り扱っておりません。 このショップさんも海外での発送となるので、3週間以上かかります。 興味ある方は届くまで時間はかかりますますが、検討してみてはどうでしょうか！
