If you want to just display this book for looks, it's actually really pretty upon receiving it. My pics do not do the paper justice in the color, it looks like a sunrise or sunset is coming thru the pages... Gorgeous as a display piece.HOWEVER!! If you want to actually use it, the only thing I have good to say about it after use, is that the paper does not leak thru. Which is why I like homemade paper for these books. As for actually using it, let's start off with, they didn't use black leather in the first place to put the angel print on, they used a white/gray leather, and then applied (what I assume is) paint on the outside. So if the leather gets a nick in it, or starts to split where the leather is bent, it shows a white gash or split. The part around the binder starts to flake the black paint/print off. So now it looks like there is a powder on the book. The flaky part doesn't show up a lot in the pics, but it shows up pretty well in real life. And.... the thread to the stitching started to come out... The strap was carelessly cut and carelessly put on the book with no care at all to make it look professional from the underside. It is in fact leather, as a horse girl, I know what real leather smells like. This book smells like my saddles. I love that part. It's just to bad that this book doesn't hold up to use.I've been very careful with this book. I have bought different blank books for all 3 of my adult kids. I'm writing their childhood memories, and how proud I am of them, among other things. These are supposed to be keep sakes that they will always hold dear to them, so that they'll always have my words no matter what. The other two books have held up just fine and doing well as I write in them. But this one is starting to show it just can't hang in there. Because I'm an artist, I do have some sealers for my paintings that I'm going to try to use. Or I might even try a clear coat of paint over the top to protect this. So if you already ordered this, and you intend on using it, I suggest coating it with something that will protect it first before use. I'm crossing my fingers that this will help. My heart is sad that it's having trouble after I've already written so much stuff in it. Obviously I can't return it.
