Braun Series 1 Electric Shaver 190s-1

This is a fantastic razor for the price

You might call this an "entry level" razor, but I've been using this model and its predecessors ever since I entered and I have never felt any need for all-singing-all-dancing extra features. It does what you want it to do, and it does it simply and well. Maybe battery life could be a bit longer, but there is no real problem and it charges up very quickly. It doesn't take up much space and is easy to carry in luggage or an overnight bag. It was delivered promptly, very safely and securely packed.

Not the best shave in the world but definitely not the worst.Really good build quality and the supplied charger is very lightweight and efficient.The foil (main) shaver takes a little longer (more runovers) to get a good result, but does a very decent job even with very hard stubbles like I have.It does not shave as short (close) and smooth as a top tier machine, but for most people and "beginners" it's more than enough.The long hair trimmer is "meh" but can be used in a pinch.Very good battery power and charge even though it's NiMH (full charge last 7-10 days with daily heavy use)+ Very low price.+ Good build quality.+ Good battery.+ Decent shave.+ Light weight (both machine and charger).+ Hard plastic protective cover.+ Easy cleaning under water and detachable foil.- Long hair trimmer is "meh".- Non standard charge port.- Only decent shaveAll in all a good shaver for a VERY good price

Easy to handle, takes up little space when you need to take it with on holiday had another one from 15 February 2011. Battery life running down, foil and cutter needed replacing once again, so purchased another Braun one same model/design. Very good value for money.

Good replacement shaver cheap and works well, good battery life.

This is a 'bread and butter' shaver.No fancy or unnecessary features,just enough to shave and trim,which all things considered,is all you really need.As this is my fourth purchase of this model (2 new spare waiting in the wings) I feel that I can recommend it with some authority.You need several run overs to get an acceptable result,but clean and oil it after every shave and it will reward you with good service.

In my view far better than the so-called advanced Series3 shavers - which have enclosed/sealed foil and cutter sections meaning you cannot really get at them to clean properly as with previous models. And of course the "Cassette" system as they call it will generate more money in replacement parts!Also the Series 1 model here is quite neat and compact - not bulky or awkward to hold like the Series 3 - and you can easily reach all parts of the face.But I fear this may ultimately be phased out by Braun to make way for progress ha!

Gives a closer shave than similarly priced razors from Remington, Panasonic or Phillips; however it is not quick - you will find yourself shaving the same bit of skin over and over again to get a close shave. Noise levels are reasonable - not as quiet as Panasonic or Phillips, but much quieter than Remington.
