Hi. My son is a skinny teenager, and I wonder if he can do up the hip belt very tighly. Could you tell me how short this hip belt can go, please?

I'd say if he's less than a 30inch waist it wouldn't be very tight with just a t-shirt on.

I need a bag that I can strap an 18kg five person tent to. Will the straps on this hold up to the task?

Straps may hold but you might have a difficult time if you load this bag up fully. Padding is subpar as is weight strap adjustments. For reference, with 22kg I was quite uncomfortable.

does this have the waterproof official infon on the bag? If not it is NOT **Waterproof**

It comes with a waterproof cover that folds away but even that on contact with sleeping bag etc seeps threw... I can imagine the first one made (sample) was top of the line waterproof but like everything Chinese ones they get the contract they cut corners even in the top part moisture seeps in not worth the price unless you use it once a year in summer in a drought
