Easy to use once you work out the menu system
Extremely useful for monitoring SpO2 levels when asleep. I wanted to check for sleep apnoea and this enabled me to eliminate that. The menu system uses just two buttons and is easy once you work out the logic. Short press moves down. Long press selects or changes. The PC software works well and displays graphs and tables of SpO2 and heart rate plus customisable thresholds.

Works but inaccurate because of a low start figure and inaccurate data transfer.
This review is for the CMS50F watch style of recordable Oximeter. It is a bit of an oddity, there are things about it that I do like and things I do not hence the medium rating, which would be higher if not for the niggles and inaccuracies.I got it because I was told I needed to use a CPAP machine because, while I do not stop breathing at night or get tired in the day, my oxygen levels dropped too low during the test so I wanted a means of checking that for myself. This device does that with reservations. For example each day when you first start recording it records a very low start for both SP02 and Pulse, even if you were getting a good reading before you started the recording process. This give a false minimum for the whole night, you can exclude the low start from the reports if you use the SP02 Assistant software provided but it’s not possible to do that when you pass the data to Sleepy head so that it can be read in conjunction with your CPAP data; as a result it show a comatose low reading in Sleepyhead every night.Another problem occurs when you zoom into the finer detail of the nights reading using Sleepyhead. SP02 Assistant doesnt give you the ability to really zoom into the data but Sleepyhead does however when you do you find lots of breaks in the data so times when it doesn’t appear to be picking up anything at all, this happens even if you record data when you are wide awake so I know I am not going in and out of a coma or dead which the breaks would apparently indicate. I do not know if this is a problem with the device or a bug in the sleepyhead data but it does mean trying to sync your device data with the CPAP results is a complete waste of time as the data cannot be relied uponThe third problem is that the menus are not particularly responsive. The only way to navigate the menus is top to bottom, so if you miss your setting you have to go around again and it’s all to easy to press the button to select something only to find that your press hasn’t registered and instead you have been moved onto the next entry. On the plus side transferring the data to the computer is relatively easy and it does work with both the software provided and with Sleepyhead. Plus a full charge seems to last a couple of nights but it’s not the most comfortable thing to be wearing in bed overnight and the lights can be distracting. The seller of this device needs to address these points.

Useless
This device from my experience is garbageI wish I could give it no stars but cannotFirstly the device I was sent was clearly not new and on inspection the hardware version was 2 and software version was 2.4 and on checking the manufacturer website the latest version is 3.7But my biggest gripe with this device is despite fully charging the battery it will not record a full night of data in fact maybe 3 hours at the most but any data it does record cannot be viewed on my Windows 8 laptop despite having the correct software and device driversNo device available is displayedI have had no support from the seller and I am expected to send it back at my expense in order to get a refund

Data matched up with Nonin unit
I use this every night along with an APAP machine, so it is getting a lot of use and performs well. I wore it at the same time as an NHS sleep test using an expensive Nonin pulse oximeter and the numbers synced up well, the Contec is a little less stable and moves between two number when the Nonin was static but at £1k the Nonin medically certified unit is out of reach for most people, this one is good.

After 3 years the screen can no longer be seen.
I found its accuracy to be comparable to other Oximeters used at the same time. Has very good print outs once you have worked out how to navigate the software, but by year three, the screen is almost totally invisible even on its brightest setting, I can no longer use it as the menu is impossible to read. How many uses is that? Fifty uses maybe? The other fault is that the lead comes off easily in sleep.

Seems to work ok
All seems to work ok - events detected by oximeter matched up closely with those detected by my CPAP machine.Update: The button on the front is slightly raised so it is easy to accidentally turn on when not wearing e.g. when placed in a drawer.

Great item great price
I've used it in 10 12 hour sleep studies over the last 11 days. Found it to reliably collect data. The software that comes with it produces clear graphs and reports with very useful derived metrics like minutes in low o2 events and number of low o2 events. Makes it easy to see if changes in sleeping practices or breathing devices used are helping to reduce sleep apnea. This device is all you need to help yourself or a loved one who has sleep apnea. The threshold alarm is also useful, you can set it to go off when o2 sats get too low allowing you to gently wake your partner and adjust their position.Very happy with purchase.

Two Stars
Data does not upload to computer; message 'no device found'. By comparison the cheaper CMS50E worked very well.
