Smooth & Strong! Fits RWD Astro/Safari
Fantastic for a 1987 Chevrolet Astro Van, in my case a RWD camper. It's all but impossible to find load-adjusting shocks for a front axle, much less tweakable ones. I've been "Astro" my entire adult life and with added cowl weight or engine compartment weight in these are a life saver! Quiet, improved handling, stability, ride height, traction, easy to install if you lift the front high enough to get the shock through the control arm slot from the bottom. These fit inside the coil spring very well and add life to motor mounts. Braking is even better in my case. My only recommendation is Grade 8's or 10's over the supplied hardware. Also, since I use them in a modified application, I make a couple of slight modifications as photographed. Note: Although shock length and diameter is the same as OEM, load carrier shocks are all but impossible to compress by hand after the hand-tight top nut is installed. Rather than compressing the shock bottom with a jack and having zero clearance for the bottom eye bolts, it's easier to start with two long bolts to snug it up. Then, remove one at a time and replace with your short bolts. In conclusion, these shocks are FANTASTIC, especially considering the price and performance!

I really feel the improvement on handling and ride. Hope this shocks lasts many years.
Installed on a 1981 crown vic and other pair installed on a 1983 grand marquis, on both cars they improved the handling, it also raise both cars but this are almost no noticeable, both cars have a 5.8l factory engine that weights much more than the usual 5.0l, maybe this are the main reason that in my case both cars havent lifted front end. This shocks reduced a little bit the comon soft cushion ride of this cars, nothing to worry and I also prefer the handling improvent. I have also buy KYB SM5267 - Mount Kit, in my opinion the rubber mounts that came with this shocks are very soft and small, and the installation needs an extra jack to get starting to put the lower bolts, so I prefer to do things the best way since first attempt so the KYB mounts are larger and distributes forces in much more points, I hope this will last at least other 15 years. Have done the installation in both cars the same day and in both cars I feel more confident in general handling and ride.

Like ‘Em! Used on 90 Toyota Pickup 2WD 1-Ton
After doing some careful measuring, I determined these shocks would fit on the front of my 1-ton 1990 Toyota Pickup Dually (with a slight modification of the lower shock mount tabs). I don’t think the build quality of these is amazing… but they’re good enough to do the job: provide some front-end lift and give the truck’s tired torsion bars an extra boost. When I’m heavily loaded, these Load-Carrier shocks help maintain normal suspension travel and keep the front from bottoming-out so frequently. They’re certainly much cheaper than putting new, HD torsion bars on this vehicle! (Can’t comment on longevity at this point, however.)

Works as advertized
Product works as advertized. I installed these shocks about 10 weeks ago and they are still working great. They did lift my car front end, but not as much as rear load carrier shocks. Installation is little bit not as straightforward as shocks without a spring - you won't be able to compress or extend shocks to match the installation length. Spring is strong - compression by hand is pretty much impossible. They decreased my wheel travel little bit - I had to lower the car approx. half an inch to be able to start putting the nut on a shock bolt, getting nut down to its normal position comressed car suspension for another 1/2 of an inch. My original front factory Motorcraft were not worn/leaked but after putting these Gabriels - I felt car as more solid. Be advised that such shocks reduce somewhat the soft cushioned ride of cars with soft suspension and long wheel travel as I was told by my car dealership. For old and soft suspension cars which used to have a lot of heavy items inside and in the trunk when parked and sitting somewhat low - this is a must to have to restore riding height. You will be able to see increase in height by measuring before and after but won't be able to see height increase so much. I installed rear load carrier shocks of different vendor as well. Rear shocks increase height more and it was clearly visible. Note that either shocks will take your headlight level off - you will have to realign your headlights.

Disappointed
I only got one of my socks. They’re supposed to be two in the box and I only got one. I need my other shock.
