I first read this book four years ago. I had no idea how to handle my son with autism. I had heard of ABA therapy and didn't have the funding resources to put him in therapy. I found this book and read it and it was so well written, insightful, organized, easy to grasp the concepts, with a tone of wise empathy throughout. I was able to implement the information in the book myself and and four years later my son is flourishing. Whenever I meet parents with a new autism diagnosis I recommend this book to them. I've bought four copies of this book so I will always have one on hand and seem to end up always giving it away. Reminds me it's time to buy another.

This is a pretty good book. I think it delivers what it promises. it's kinda a quick overview/manual book. I am the parent of a child with Autism and I am always looking for ways to connect with my son. I am always searching for how to communicate with him, how to direct him to follow directions and how to make connections with him.This book covers some straightforward tips, reminders and tools for parents. Kinda like a high-level how-to book. and it explains the theory behind the ideas it advocates.The book is kinda thin and has lots of space in the margins, so don't expect an overabundant wealth of information. But this was a nice compliment to my arsenal of ideas on how to communicate with my son.

I got this book to help me get more ideas to implement ABA with my son and glean more viewpoints as an ABA tutor. Many books on ABA I have read in the past are wordy and not always practical or applicable to actual parenting needs and regular life. This book is hits a home run in educating the reader on the basics of ABA as well as explaining WHY. This is an interesting and compact read for parents, students, or people wanting a good, general overview that helps the reader grasp the underlying principles of ABA. I am recommending this to the parents I work with and will have this on most accessible bookshelf for years to come.

This book had lots of helpful information for parents who are considering or using ABA therapy for their autistic child. Very readable and helpful.
