Slightly chalky texture, but decent chocolate flavor, and helps you lose weight.
It's a powdered chocolatey mix. Put it in some milk to make a smoothie sort of thing. If you STICK TO THE PROGRAM, it can help you lose weight by reducing your appetite a bit. And it is low calorie, low sugar, etc. It is meant to REPLACE an entire meal - I like to use it for either breakfast OR lunch but not both. The official plan wants you to have this for TWO meals every day and then have a normal meal for the third one. And SMALL low-calorie snacks a couple of times between meals. It's easy to follow the plan. Personally though, I have diabetes and my sugar tends to drop dangerously low if I don't get enough REAL FOOD during the day, so I only use it for ONE meal instead of TWO. I lost 10 lbs in six months. And I'm suffering from another medical condition that leaves me mostly disabled so I can't even have a regular physical workout anymore, that's why I turned to SlimFast in the first place. But really it is meant to go along with some kind of regular workout program, too. So it won't be as effective for me as it will be for most people because most people are healthy enough to go for a job every morning or go to the gym a few days per week. Yeah, that's right, the official plan calls for you to replace meals with these shakes, AND have SMALLER snacks between meals, AND exercise regularly. Imagine that, a program that doesn't claim to be a "miracle cure" but that tells you the truth: work hard and you'll improve your weight/health. The taste is okay... but the chocolate one is the only one that I can drink without vomiting. The vanilla one tastes like chalk and FEELS like chalk too. The strawberry one tastes like sugar-free bubble gum and leaves an aftertaste like glue resin, AND feels like chalk in my mouth. But the chocolate ones taste... not exactly "good" but okay. I don't hate the chocolate one. It's not as chalky, and it tastes better than the other flavors. DO NOT try to mix the smoothie with a spoon. It won't work, it will come out all chunky and gross. If you have a blender, use that. If you don't have a blender, here's what you do: 1. put ONE OUNCE of water or milk into an 8-10 oz mixing cup (like you'd use for making margaritas or whatever). 2. Get a full level scoop of the powder in the provided spoon (it's probably buried an inch under the powder inside the jar). 3. Add a TINY AMOUNT from the scoop into the mixing cup. Start stirring with a spoon. 4. Add more TINY AMOUNTS and keep stirring until you end up with a sort of paste. With 1 oz of water it should take the entire scoop to achieve this, but do it in 3 or 4 batches. 5. Now add water or milk SLOWLY, keep stirring, until you have a full 8 oz. 6. Put the lid on and shake the heck out of the mixture until it's foamy and "smooth" like a real milkshake. This will probably take 2 minutes of consistent violent shaking, so making this stuff is a workout by itself. 7. Drink up. It will have a slightly chalky texture, so try to just chug it and get it over with. But really the chocolate flavor isn't too bad.

Delicious, Satisfying, Love This!
This shake is delicious and satisfying. It really fills me up and keeps me full. I'm not on the Slim Fast plan and have not lost weight but I use this as a late afternoon snack. I used to eat snack bars but the ones that were 200 calories, would leave me earning for more. Sometimes I would eat two or three. Then I decided to replace thos snack bars with protein powder drinks--the same ones my husband drinks when he works out. After trying several brands/flavors I stopped because they all tasted bad to me, were hard to mix and I always had lumps, and they did not sit well with my digestion. So I decided to try the Slim Fast powder. Like the protein power, you add liquid. The liquid volume actually fills up my stomach whereas a single snack bar did not. And it still tastes good enough to satify my sweet tooth. The cans are small enough to be stored in my office desk for when cravings attack. And it's better to whip up a Slim Fast shake than to go for a donut or whatever everyone else is having in the office kitchen. Only 200 calories when mixed with skim milk and 110 calories when mixed with water. Of course it tastes better with milk but I just had some with water and it was OK, too. The powder mixes well when I put it in my Starbucks tumbler and give it a couple of shakes. No lumps at all. It doesn't mix very well by spoon method. Sometimes, when I'm extra hungry, I add more liquid to increase the volume without adding more powder. It does taste more diluted this way but it fills me up without extra calories. GENIUS! And no stomach issues like when I was drinking whey isolate protein powder. LOVE THIS!
