Simple but good
It may be just foam but I really like it, simple idea but works great. I hear what some other posters are saying about the bottom needing to being a little thicker but it's definitely workable. Personally I absolutely HATE the feeling and sound of styrofoam so I'm really happy I can use this to practice on as a beginner for pinning.

Wish it was deeper
I use a pinning block to set the height of my specimens but this spreading board is too shallow for me to use. Can't shove the needle to the proper height for my specimens to spread the wings. Guess I should have read the size dimensions more closely.

Sweet, simple and all you could need
Easy and versatile. All you could really need. Wish it came in bigger sizes for insects with larger wing spans.

not good for moths
Just 3 blocks of foam and is a bit too tall for moths ): Good quality foam though and pins easily enter and exit it.

Worked great!
I used this for my very first attempt at pinning any bug ever so it was a bit tricky to figure out the spacing for the 2 blocks to put the moth body in between, but this my be my own inexperience and not the product. Once I figured it out, the blocks worked very well and helped me preserve this very special visitor at my door while she spent her last hours alive on this earth. Now she will live forever in my home.

Just some EVA foam
Bought this so I can start making art out of the apartment bugs. It's not too big, and when I'm not pinning I'm able to tuck it away on my shelf, it's also light enough that I can hang it while pinning so mu cats don't try to eat my bugs. That all being said, it is just three half-inch cuts of EVA foam. So if you have easy access to foam then just use that, if not it's a fairly decent deal.
