Perfect for any use where moving your hands is useful
This thing is amazing! I'm kind of a platter of problems, and this thing is great for multiple uses. It helps my anxiety by giving me something to do with my hands, where I would previously just pick at the skin on my fingers or fidget with pencils so hard they'd fly across the room if I accidentally loosened my grip. This thing just twists and moves around your hand, allowing you to kind of mess with it descretely. I am also narcoleptic, and fall asleep randomly in class or otherwise. If I'm stationary for too long, I konk out. This thing is PERFECT for messing with to keep me just awake enough! If I feel I'm dozing, it's great to move my hands around with it, and the rubbery tactile outside is perfect for sensory perception and making you really notice messing with it enough that it doesn't become a second nature kind of thing, but not that it's uncomfortable in your hands. The only problem I kind of have is that it's quite large -- I'm used to fiddling with things with just a finger or two. Easily solved by removing the links! Remove two and it's about the perfect size for my normal sized hands. Do it in half to make two small fiddly things. Or leave it as it is and really pull it apart with your hands if you need bigger movements or want to use both hands. I also like to unlink a piece and keep it as a straight bit, which is also a nice new way to mess with it, as in that way you can twirl it! It's also a good color. The other one I saw was like bright pink and purple...This one is all of the scientifically soothing colors. It's nice!I would highly recommend this for anyone who fiddles with things on their desk, or with anxiety, narcolepsy or chronic tiredness, ASD or anything else. I've saved things on my desk or otherwise from being pulled apart of fiddled with that I otherwise wouldn't want broken, haha. It's the perfect toy for kids and adults alike -- but it does come apart, so if your child is using it, do be careful and supervise.

Simple shape, amazing results
I had heard about Tangles a few months ago but never really understood why they were so popular in the autism/ADD community. I didn't know exactly what they were for, so I largely ignored them. However, during my first visit to a new therapist, she handed this kind of Tangle to me and as I rambled on about my past, it was so easy to talk while my hands idly played with the Tangle. I liked fidgeting with it so much that didn't want to give it back at the end of the session! I did, though, but luckily I was able to buy one for myself soon after. I debated amongst the fuzzy Tangles and the metallic ones, but I decided on this one because it has a bumpy texture that feels nice. If you prefer smooth things, go with a metallic one, but if you like bumpy surfaces, this one's great. Mine is very sturdy despite many friends and family members testing it out to see for themselves if they liked it (all of them did). I prefer this to a fidget spinner or a cube because it's quite nice to form different shapes with it and encourages more creative motion than repetitive motion. It definitely calms me down when I'm anxious and it's nice to stim with when I need to do some thinking, especially about difficult subjects. It's a nice, noiseless distraction that may look childish but is very therapeutic. I recommend these to anyone who has anxiety, autism, ADHD, or anyone who just likes to stim. No throwing, no spinning, no clicking: just silently manipulating the curves into pleasing shapes.

Helps calm fidgety hands
This thing is awesome. I have issues with pulling and picking at my fingernails and hair when I'm idle or nervous, very often in public settings. I randomly came across this toy while browsing and bought it on a whim, and from the moment I've gotten it I've hardly put it down. I don't pull or pick while I'm using it, so I've started keeping it with me everywhere I go.Pros: Unlike a static object the tangle feels organic in your hand/s. Each joint twists very smoothly, with no resistance. It crumples and folds out very nicely, and you can also pull and squeeze it pretty hard without having to worry about it. The motion is silent, so you don't have to worry about disturbing anyone. (It does make a loud crack when you pull the joints apart.) I also often wrap it around my fingers and just let it sit there. This version is made of rubber and has bumps on the pieces. I personally like this, as it helps retain grip and gives a more tactile feel to it. You don't get bored of it, since it never feels the same twice. I find the size of this one just right for my hands.Cons: After awhile, for me, the rubber didn't always feel smooth, and the pieces looked as if they'd picked up a residue. (Likely the oil from my hands.) This came off with water, so I just starting wiping it down regularly. Also, I suffer from dry skin and constantly having this tangle in my hands seemed to strip the moisture right off, making my hands drier. This might not be an issue for everyone.Overall: This is a great aid if you have nervous habits, or if you pull or pick. It fits nicely in a bag and can be taken anywhere you go. I've found it to be a great help to me, so I highly recommend it.Update: I've owned this for about two months now, and it's started to show its age. It's gotten very heavy use since I got it. Lots of squeezing, pulling, and pulling the pieces apart. I had one piece rip internally, so it's intact, but bends in the middle. The ball joint connectors of two others broke off while snapping the pieces apart, so I had to remove those two, which made the tangle shorter. I'm sad to see it start to fall apart, but it's held up pretty well given how roughly I've used it. Still recommended.
