Q: Do the glue sticks come with the gun or do you have to buy them separately?

You get a few, 5 I think, with the gun, then you buy separately. I will say the sticks recommended are smaller than the original ones. As this was a gift I have not found out if this is a problem.

Q: Does this glue gun take oval glue sticks?

Yes but they have to be the right size oval ones. I can't remember what size sorry. It comes with a few.

Q: does this gun help stick cloth together strongly

I would not suggest any hot or low temp glue to stick cloth together
