It work on my OG Xbox with the IDE adapter 40 pin 80 wire but it’s crazy I use the cable inside the Xbox try out with the WD 1TB HDD using IDE adapter with out the 40 pin 80 wire I did clone it as well. It works, but soon I turn it back on I did get the error and told myself it didn’t work so I wait until I get this until I put the Xbox back together and try it out one more time to see what happened and it popped up the Microsoft name and it show my storage. I did not know how I got lucky but it works but I make sure to buy this just in case if I get a error again thanks even though I don’t know this happened to everyone else OG Xbox using the cables inside

It works. Does not smell weird. It is not safe for consumption, but I do not eat wires typically. My dog chuckled at me when I typed that...he likes a copper snack every once in awhile. Moves data. Hardware does not complain.

Does the job in conjunction with a startech adapter in an OG XBOX. I was able to get a good routing with it too without any weird twists, just a come folds

Works well for the xbox original from what I can tell. I will mention that, like other comments, mine was slightly on the short side if inserted properly. If the middle insert were seated a bit closer to the blue insert, everything would be fine. All the same, pretty good

picked this up to replace the stock 40-wire ide ribbon cable when upgrading an original xbox with a modern sata hard drive and adapter. the 24-inch length gives you the necessary reach between the motherboard, dvd drive, and new drive bay without putting extreme tension on the headers. it is an 80-wire cable as required for ata/133 speeds to prevent data corruption with sata converters like the startech adapter, and the console booted and recognized the drive with zero read errors. the ribbon material is relatively stiff, so you need to take your time making clean, deliberate 45-degree folds to tuck it flat under the dvd caddy and ensure the case lid closes properly without pinching. solid, reliable cable for console modding.

My first soft modded XBox finally gave up the ghost. I thought, (hoped) it was the cheap 80 wire ATA cable I had installed way back in 2014, but no…. The cloned 120GB Western Digital PATA Hard drive finally broke down. 14 years is a pretty good lifespan for one of those! Time to go hard mod on the system, and install a modern SATA hard drive. As for this new cable, it’s a vast improvement over previous versions available back in the early soft modding days. The others were very short and had to be twisted and folded like oragami to get it to connect, which is why I had hoped it was the cable that went bad. This new cable still needs careful folding, but is longer and isn’t under the tight stresses those old cables suffered. I would say it fits loosely inside, when folded and routed perfectly. I tested this new cable out on another Xbox, just before I sold it, and it works good, and the price is really good for such old obsolete tech! People are still modding these things, well over a decade later, it’s nice to know that this obsolete tech is still adored!

If you switch to an SSD and get error 16, this cable will sort it out and your Xbox will be running at full capacity

If you want to swap your og xbox hdd with a larger sata you need this, and a sata to ide adapter. Its actually 2 inches longer than the regular xbox cable (24” vs 22”), the other cheap brands are 18” and not very good. Get ‘em while you can, these aren’t manufactured anymore and getting rare, I ordered a spare for the future, you should too if you mod systems!

Works as intended. Expensive but not many options for this length I got this to install a 2TB SATA HDD into my original Xbox console. Works perfectly with this and a Startech SATA to IDE adapter.
