Another Dimension
'The 'New' Twilight Zone' is a remake of the 1960s Rod Serling series 'The Twilight Zone'.Each episode stands alone and has its own cast. There is a mixture of new stories as well as old stories - i.e stories that were in the original series. It showcases old and young American & English Talent of the 1980s.If you're not familiar with the Twilight Zone experience, the Twilight Zone is the 'zone' - that place of strange occurrences and/or with horrific consequences. The TZ experience is that zone which exposes the 'divinity' within and/or the 'hell raiser' outside of ourselves' which is in constant battle, where the subconscious mind can conquer or defy all sorts of unimaginable feats that the psyche imposes. In the Twilight Zone the unexplained is explained as a judgement call for the human adventurer on earth as 'Tales of the Unexpected'.In terms of the stories, 'The New Twilight Zone' takes nothing away from The Twilight Zone. The New Twilight Zone features two short stories to one episode, which make it a rather complex way of trying to locate your favourite story. The DVD Disc itself has no working title list, but is listed in numerical order as episodes. To find your favourite story, you have to 'select' the episode number, which then gives you two tiles to the one episode number you have selected. On the inside cover of the DVD Boxset, itself, there is a full list of titles and the correct disc & season to locate any particular title, but it does not give the episode numbers of the titles by disc and season. From the list and the episodes you have to figure out which episode number would have you favourite story. For example: To get the titles of stories 9 & 10, you would have to select Episode 5.There's no pictures, that explains the stories or no wordy overview that explains the story. The only way of telling whether your favourite story from The Twilight Zone has been transported into The New Twilight Zone is to watch it all in Seasonal, Numerical 'Order', as some of the titles of the remakes slightly changed. For example Shelter - The Twilight Zone is renamed as Shelter Skelter in The New Twilight Zone. That's an obvious title to work with but not all new titles are so subtle. The New Twilight Zone includes household names such as:Bruce WillisHelen MirrenMorgan FreemanLINKS:Shelter/Shelter Skelter is a partial true story. Check out 'Raven Ridge Luxury Survival Condos'. These are exceptionally large bunkers for the survival of those who make a purchase. The bunkers have never 'really' been tested. The results relies on the psychological analysis reports of 75 people cooped up for a 'reasonable' length of time, knowing that when they emerge they may be the only survivors in that Postcode/Zip Code.Thank You!

It began in the 80's and finished in the 80's.
This means The Twilight Zone retains the 80's atmosphere through it's entire run. Just the way I like my shows that kicked off in that time period. I see A LOT of faces I recognize throughout the show. Even some names of those who directed or wrote specific episodes. Sgt Taggart from Beverly Hills Cop is in an episode. That brat who was Stallone's son in Over The Top was in an episode. Just to name a couple of faces I recognized. Oh and Bruce Willis as well. He's a little known actor you've probably never heard of him. The 80's atmosphere is in every episode. Some it's easy to spot. Others it's really easy to spot. The perfect music score makes this happen. If you like Tales From The Darkside then check this out. It's really similar in tone and layout for each episode.

Always will Have a Picture with Haze
The problem is down to the signal used on the DVD's, on the back of the box it says NTSC and not PAL per the technical details on Amazon. The picture will have haze on it because the DVD player will be converting the NTSC signal to the PAL signal. I am very surprised that it was released with the NTSC signal because by the time this was released it was well known, that the conversion of TV signal was not very good when done by the DVD player. The NTSC signal was 525 lines with a lower frames per second than the PAL signal of 625 lines of 25 frames per second. So any NTSC conversion to PAL will always have a picture with haze. The odd thing is the same company released the original black and white Twilight Zone, five years earlier on DVD with a PAL signal.

Great series, expected more features
The series itself is realy great and a must have for all mystery/sci-fi/horror fans. However, because of its quality it should be treated accordingly. There should be a leaflet inside the box providing details about the episodes, cast and their date of broadcast for instance. I also believe that the presence of subtiltles in English at least (there aren't any unfortunately), is really helpful not only for those with hearing problems but also for people who don't use English as their native language.

Good series from the '80's
This box set contains all of the episodes aired in the 1980's. It is a little hit and miss - but always enjoyable - if only to see some of today's actors when they were just starting out.The runtime is actually 2271 minutes, and not the 1600 or so minutes shown on the Amazon description. Some discs are English subtitles, but many have no subtitles at all!Overall, a nice little collection at a very reasonable price (£36 at time of writing)

Great to have it but Fremantle - media hasn't contributed ...
Watched these episodes in the 80's and now wanted to have this box- set. Great to have it but Fremantle - media hasn't contributed subtitles at all, not even english subs. It would have served anybody outside english spoken countries and hearing- impaired persons. I give big minus to Fremantle media for this but box itself is good value for money.

Brings back those 80s memories, but a little dated
Good Value. Lots of episodes on each disc, several discs. The quality leaves a little to be desired. Its a bit like watching an old VHS tape. I remember some of these episodes from when I was a kid. How I loved them then. Just hearing that opening music brings back the memories and that spooky anticipation. In fairness the stories are not as good as I remember them. They haven't aged well and some of the stories go nowhere and answer nothing. All said, there are some good watches here and I still rate it to bring back those memories.
