Great kitchen tool! This whip is described as piano wire, but I'd classify it as slightly thicker wire. It's not just made for thin, light mixtures, but is strong enough for a thick cake batter. Basically a great all-around use whip. If Amazon had a scale of 10, I'd give it a 9 as compared a perfect whip being a 10. This appears to be made just as well as a commercial Vollrath with the exception of the end cap. This has a blunted edge lip on the end, where a Vollrath has a much smoother rounded off cap. Probably not a concern in home use, but if you were using this commercially all day it would hurt. At 1/4 the price of a Vollrath, I would definitely buy it again.

The 12 inch Winco Stainless Steel whisk or wire whip has an interesting alignment of the wires at the tip. I think this will support more air brought into a batter. It is surprisingly heavy with what appears to be a core wrapped in the steel handle that holds each wire in its own place. My old one was a very lightweight inexpensive one, and the wires are not aligned. I like this retention of the alignment. I also like that no food can get trapped inside the handle. As for the weight, I have not tried it to whip up egg whites yet, but I have a feeling that one can use the weight to 'fall' in the down stroke in a tipped bowl very nicely. I got the 12" because I use deep bowls for whipping heavy cream and egg whites by hand, and egg yolks for batter. I have an electric beater, but as some video tutorials point out, one has better control of not over beating if trying to reach a particular soft stage. This is a very sleek well made tool. I think we will be 'partners' for a long time. I will wash it by hand, and dry immediately to be sure any grease is completely removed for meringue making.

Handle a little bigger than expected, but works fine for mixing bread dough. Very sturdy.

This whisk is sturdy and hefty so it gives off a real sense of quality even though its very inexpensive. Already made batter, custards, and more sweets for the family with them. Its easy to clean and sturdy for those thicker batters. The piano wire is thick. Downside is the handle is metal so if oil gets on your hands it may be difficult to stir but I never had that problem.

This whisk works well, I have used it several times already. Fair price, quality product, made in America, I can't ask for more.

This is a sturdy piece of balloon whisk. If you're not cooking for 8 or more people at a time, you may want to think about a smaller size. This whisk does not work its way around a smaller saucepot easily. This is a very large tool. But, if you're making copious amounts of bechamel, polenta, or anything else in a large stockpot and need some extra leverage, this guy has tons of whips to help you along. Very sturdy, well made, and can whip cream to stiff peaks in no time flat.

Seems to be acceptable quality, but the advertising is not accurate. We purchased this specifically because it said that the country of origin was the USA. It comes with a made in China tag in the packaging. It may just be an oversite, but the information would have affected my original purchase.
