Lonely Planet Istanbul: with pull-out MAP (Travel Guide)

I love the Lonely Planet series and find the books very useful. You can find everything online as well but these books are just such a good summary of everything you need to know plus much more when you travel. I even booked accommodation according to the advice of the author. I bought the latest edition which is well-updated and all the info was relevant. Bought this online after I saw it in Waterstones and saved almost £5.

Great guide to fo things and work out for daily outings

This travel guide is very well set out and easy to use, breaking Istanbul down into its different districts, with a wealth of information on each one, complete with maps. Very useful.

Very easy to read and understand. A must for travel and get to grips with the location.

It covered the city and its sites/sights very well, giving good advice. I especially liked the Top Itineraries section, it was especially helpful in planning.

I thought it was a very good book. Well organised. Info almost current. Maps descriptions places to visit. Suited my purpose perfectly.

Some fantastic recommendations and I would have been lost (literally) without it - however the way the actual guide is laid out is extremely difficult to use! Information about restaurants, sights, shopping etc. in an area is in one section, the map of that area in a completely different section, and the key to that map in another section! I found this a bit difficult to actually understand where to find some of the attractions that were explained. I'd use this guide as a pre-read but would look into alternatives to actually carry around with me whilst I was there. Also as the version is a little out of date, i did find a few of the stores and restaurants have since closed or relocated.

I really like the way this guide is layed out. Very informative and nicely written.

For travelling through Istanbul it’s the best. I really like the books from lonelyplanet.

We found this guide book very handy and helpful. Covered most of the places mentioned in the book. Going through this book before our trip helped us easily navigte across Istanbul and efficiently use public transport to minimise cost of commuting.

Very useful. Good way to explere the city. Kimda hard to find the recommended places to eat.
