I recently picked up the BRITA Marella XL, and honestly, there isn't a massive amount to say other than it is absolutely spot on. It is widely considered the best on the market for a reason, and it certainly lives up to the reputation. First Impressions & Setup It arrived in the new sustainable Smart Box packaging, which is a nice eco-friendly touch. Setting it up is a complete doddle. You just prep the included MAXTRA PRO cartridge, pop it in, run a couple of cycles of water through, and you are ready to go. The jug itself feels very sturdy and well-made. Practical Use The massive 3.5L capacity is fantastic. It saves you from constantly having to refill it, which can be a bit of a faff with smaller jugs if you drink a lot of water. The flip-lid is a genuinely brilliant feature, allowing you to top it up straight from the tap without taking the whole top off. The water tastes incredibly crisp and clean, and the digital indicator on the lid takes all the guesswork out of knowing when to swap the filter. I really love this, I’ve now gotten used to the taste and regular tap water just tastes so off, this has made drinking fresh water so much easier because I can reliably be sure I’ll get a nice glass of water. And keeping it in the fridge means you can have ice cold water whenever you want. Not had a single issue with this, it’s really robust and doesn’t leak, unless on a filter change you don’t fit the inside properly but that can be fixed in a few seconds.

This is nicely made and holds a decent amount of water. Comes with a filter and I must admit I was surprised how quickly it filtered through. At £15 I'm quite happy, I also purchased 3 additional filters for £7, these are not brita filters but have a 4.6 rating on here so you can find them if you look. As per usual the brita maxtra filters are extortionate so I'll see how these generic ones do. I like the little led display (zoom pics) but I can't work out how this gadget can possibly know how much water I have filtered??? I imagine it's actually just a timer and will go down to zero (replace filter time) in exactly a month?? We shall see, I have descaled my kettle and hopefully this will prevent the bad scale I get here in Loughborough?? Ps,,, if you buy this make sure you opt in for amazon packaging, I know it's not very "green" but it will give you that added damage protection whilst in transit. Recommend from me. Pps,, The lid is a very tight and precise fit, if it's not in the exact position you will know because the flap that covers the refill hole won't open and close properly (it will jam), please don't force the flap as you might break it. If this happens, just remove the lid and realign it, fortunately you will only have to take it off every month or so to replace your filter and obviously it will get easier once it's "worn in". This is my only gripe. Update 30th April, I can confirm the L E D 4 bar filter change device in the lid is just a timer. After exactly 7 day's 1 of the 4 bars has disappeared supposedly signifying I have used 25 litres out of the 100 litres before filter change is required. I did wonder whether it was a tilt device, but it's just a gimmick. I'm a single person, so a family of 5 are going to use a lot more than me. I think the best way to judge a filter change is when the flow through the filter slows down to a drip, this will obviously signify that the filter is getting clogged and needs changing. Don't you just love these sales gimmicks? Hehe

The best size ever

Excellent quality water jug, this was a half proce bargain too, so much cheaper than the supermarkets. This is our 3rd XL Brita jug, they last well but do get a bit battle damaged over the years. We have very hard water on the south west coast, there are cheaper maxtra+ alternative filters that easily fit this jug, you don't have to but the expensive main brand ones.

Excelente tamaño y capacidad. Se nota mucho el filtrado

È da più di un mese che uso questa caraffa. È arrivata con un filtro Brita incluso. L'ho comprata per l'eccessivo calcare presente nell'acqua dove vivo, che rischia di rovinare alcuni elettrodomestici come il bollitore e la macchina del caffè. Oltre ad aver risolto il problema, ora è difficile bere acqua che non sia filtrata dalla caraffa, la differenza si sente. La caraffa è della capienza che cercavo, è comoda e pratica. Il consiglio di metterla in frigo in periodi caldi non so se riuscirò a seguirlo però, visto che è molto ingombrante. Comodo il sensore sul coperchio che indica il tempo rimanente di utilizzo del filtro. La caraffa è completamente smontabile e quindi facile da manutenere.
