5/10 Beware, track pad and speakers are abysmal
5 OUT OF 10 STARS! It is not really a 2 but it's not really a 3 so I chose 5/10. I'm 50/50 satisfied with this laptop. Also, if I select 2 or 3 you're not going to read it. You'll read mostly 5's and some 1's, but you should hear this. I wish I read what I'm going to share with you before I purchased it. Unfortunately I can't return it.TRACK PAD: First off, the track pad is horrendous. I am not joking. The gestures just stop working often. Every day kind of often. I'm tapping it, scrolling up and down with two fingers, nothing happens. It just freezes. Eventually they work, usually when I change the web page.SPEAKERS: I just don't know what they were doing with the speakers. IT'S A LAPTOP! The speakers aim right into your hip creases or into your gut (or abs) when the laptop is on your lap, otherwise they aim straight into the table or other surface you have it on (bed is the worst, muffles into the mattress/blankets). They are sub par speakers to begin with, but they'd be tolerable if they weren't located on the bottom. Those are the two big everyday things for me, but here are a few more issues:CAPS LOCK: Does not have an indicator light. None what so ever. No where on the laptop or on the screen does it indicate caps lock. Kind of strange and at times a pain. As I wrote this review I backspaced and re-wrote words because of not knowing caps lock was on.WEB CAM: Not only does it ruin my handsome face with it's 480P, but it is located precisely where you put your thumb or finger to pry open the laptop, and I do mean pry, it is rather tight, and considerable pressure is put onto that little camera.CHARGING INDICATOR: The least of my worries, but it just adds to the overall curiosity as to WTF was Asus doing with this laptop? So much potential yet they throw speed bumps in their own way. The charging cable (a generously long one) plugs into the upper right corner. A red light turns on on the left side. I'd expect it to be just next to or just above the charging port, like every other laptop for the past 20 years. Some positives include the fact that the computer boots up in 7 seconds flat. It's ready to go. The screen really is quite nice from all viewing angles. The back lit keyboard is nice and adjustable with three levels. I like that I can adjust and lower the blue light on the screen so I don't strain my eyes when it's dark. The keyboard is soft, but it doesn't bother me nearly as much as the track pad or speakers do. The keyboard works fine, I don't notice the flex that many talked about. The aluminum finish on the top panel is nice. Wish it went all around, but even the plastic body is okay. It is rather light weight and fits smoothly into any of my bags. The battery is okay, not amazing, but I do usually have the screen at full bore unless it's late. It usually lasts 5 hours. All in all the computing power is excellent. I haven't done much more than web surf, but I'd bet it would handle larger tasks just fine. The track pad and speakers are the killer. They are everyday things for me. I tried to adjust settings for the tack pad, but there seems to be no hope.I was compelled to write this review because the track pad had failed on me, and I couldn't even listen to music while I was winding down web surfing. BASICS!!!!!

Great. Performs well, great battery life.
So far it's great. With light use, I can make it through a whole day without bringing my charger.Pros:For its price, it performs really well.I can get well over 5-6 hours of use out of it if I'm not doing anything too demanding. If I'm doing heavy gaming, it'll still last about an hour on battery.Nice and lightweight. It also looks quite pretty.Keyboard and trackpad feel great. It doesn't hurt my fingers by overusing the trackpad, and the keyboard is nice to type on.Lid lifts mostly with 1 finger.Cons:Poor thermal performance. Under any significant CPU load, it shoots up to the high 70s or higher. It thermal throttles if you use high CPU and GPU at the same time. It gets reeeeally hot. It's hard to get into. There are screws under the rubber feet, so you have to take them out to get under the lid. The adhesive will come off if you take the feet out too many times. It's a tad bendy. Not too flimsy, but it's not the sturdiest laptop in the world.

Major computing bang for the buck but corners were cut to make it this price.
It has legit specs for the money for sure I got the one with the 8th gen i7 processor, NVIDIA MX150 2gb GPU, 8gb ddr4 RAM that is upgradeable, 256gb SSD and a 1TB HDD. So far it's super fast and smokes any computer I've used ever. It boots to the desktop in less than 10 seconds and has no problem handling multiple tasks. I love the look and feel of it. Despite the reviews I read about the keyboard I like it and it provides an excellent keyboard experience the backlighting on the keyboard is adjustable and makes for excellent dark environment use, it does time out fairly quickly (30s) but for my needs that isn't a problem. The touch pad is nice as far as I can tell, I don't use touchpads much, I prefer to use a wireless mouse. My sole area of woe, is the screen. It leaves much to be desired. It does have nearly a 180 degree viewing angle and is Anti-glare however it is not very bright and has very very poor color accuracy. Almost no red at all everything is instead a burnt orange color and all colors appear muted or washed out even after attempting to fine tune the display settings and get everything calibrated still no true ruby reds. The dullness of the colors is a huge let down. The lackluster brightness makes working in bright light not ideal and outdoors nearly impossible. Also the display tends to flicker when switching between applications or open tabs. The picture is very clear and defined but poor colors and low light with occasional flickering. So if you are a graphic designer or video editor or an anal gamer this wouldn't be for you, unless you planned on getting an aftermarket compatible monitor. Another thing that may bother others, but not me because I don't use them, is that the webcam is very poor quality as well as the speakers are pretty much garbage not loud at all and located on the bottom of the computer. However I did my shopping around and my research and for the hardware that's included for the price that they have it at it's a really good deal. I guess to get it down to that price corners had to be cut somewhere. It is a shame that the FHD 1080p screen is crap for brightness and has poor color gamut. Other than that the fan is a tad loud at times and the vent for cooling is under the monitor hinge with only one fan and one copper cooling tube it can heat up pretty quick which will impede performance of the processor due to thermal throttling. I bought a 3 fan cooling stand tho and I never hear the computer fan kick on anymore at least not to the extent to that it was. Overall I'm happy with my purchase the things that are cons are tolerable with the big pros acting as a spoon full of sugar to help the poor sound and colors go down. I hope this was helpful to some.

Fabulous machine
Using it as a design machine for graphic work. It's fabulous. The laptop is light, fast and good looking. It's a good workhorse. 1TB drive with 8GB RAM and a strong i7 CPU. The only catch is that this sleek machine has no optical drive. In case you miss that there are external optical drives you can buy for less than $40 if you need one.

Over all good, some flaws
I like this laptop, it works well, the battery life claims for 8 hours but usually lasts 3, and it will over heat very easily in my experience, other then that I have not had a problem with it
