How long is the space between the two legs? I am looking to put on an 8ft long mat, but not sure if it will work.

the space between the two legs is about 6.5 feet. I have the 6ft long mat that fits. If you want to use 8 ft long mat then you could place one on either side of the beam overlapping the protruding part of the leg. It is of a very good quality, solid and secure. I definitely recommend.
