Crimson Clover

This is the second novel I have read by author Patricia Hester. She is an talented writer. Her first novel was a family story with family values. Crimson Clover is the complete opposite. It is hard to believe that Patricia can produce two completely different types of novels. Crimson Clover tells the story of Crimson who is a very uninhibited young woman. Her brother-in-law is murdered and she attempts to find the killer. She will do anything to solve the crime and bring the murderer to justice. This novel has graphic violence and is sexually explicit but it is needed to portray the psychopathic actions of the murderer. I would love to see a movie made from this novel. It would keep the audience at the end of their seats.

this book starts out good, like a mystery but then just get nasty, filthy and gross, and to my sadness I bought it and the set. would love to have my money back

I will start out by saying that if you don't like too many details (how the people are killed or are going to be killed) in your mystery books then this book is not for you. However, the details fit the story. I did not give this book a five because I am somewhat conflicted by the writing style or the way the story was told. I don't know how to put my finger on it but it seemed kind of disjointed at times. It doesn't mean that it was bad it was just different and I'm not sure that I personally liked it or not. I also guessed the killer as soon as he was introduced (it wasn't super obvious but I am pretty good at this - maybe I've read too many?). Overall though the story was very interesting and made you want to keep reading because you wanted to find out what was going to happen. It wasn't too short or wasn't too long. The main character was not as fleshed out as I would have liked but you do get glimpses of what maker her tick. For me though I like to root for the main character but in this case I was ambivalent about her. I will definitely purchase more books by this author.

This author has written a terrific novel about coal miners - and this silly, sick-sex story is sure a disappointment. On and on. I sped through, skipping six or eight pages at a time.

Nicely written. Edge of seat reading with good detail.

Okay whoa. This is an intense, seat of the pants, OMG type story. From the Opening you are sucked in. The mutilation and death of a beloved police officer, a serial killer of prostitutes and a truckload of interesting and intriguing characters. You are dragged from one scene to the next, kicking and screaming and biting your nails. A worthy read for sure. My only complaint is it ends too abruptly. One single more page would have taken you from OMG to YES.

This was a page turner and could not wait to finish! But, the last few pages were so sexually, sadisticly graphic, it ruined the whole book for me.

Well goodness, that was a page turner. There doesn't appear to be a sequel but I wish there was. Let me know if one i s written!
