Simple as that.This book provides just enough information to get started without overwhelming you. Sure, a professional might say it doesn't delve deeply enough in some areas, like sterilization, for example, but for someone like me, it lays a solid foundation. If I want to learn more, I know how to look it up. I don't need a book to walk me through what the button on top of a pressure cooker does.Cultivation for Beginners gives solid, practical steps whether you're working in a small apartment or outside. I appreciated the variety of mushrooms covered and the low-cost DIY setups, which required no fancy equipment. The bonus section, which included 10 extra projects, was a fun surprise. I bookmarked a few to try this fall, especially since I'm determined to grow morels this time around.If you're into home gardening or self-reliance and want a clear, no-nonsense guide to growing your mushrooms, this one hits the mark.

I had no idea there were so many variables to become aware of when I started reading. Indoors or outdoors? Humid or dry? Medicinal or edible. He doesn't dig into the areas of psychedelic or poisonous, but if you really want those kinds of mushrooms, you will be able to discover what you need on your own after you've read this book. He gives the reader exactly what is needed for healing and eating. No more. No less.You will be introduced to a new vocabulary. You will learn to view the world through the lens of the mushroom: all its components, colors, idiosyncracies, and food needs. You will learn its need for temperature control, bedding control, and the myriad of additional details that will help your mushrooms become healthy and delicious additions to your medicine chest and your recipes. What a fantastic and comprehensive guide to mushroom cultivation! "Mushroom Cultivation for Beginners" packs all the necessary information into one incredibly helpful book. It covers everything: how to grow mushrooms, creating sterile environments, pasteurization and sterilization, substrates, inoculation, mushroom spawn and agar, and so much more. Seriously, if I had owned this book when I first started growing mushrooms, I know my journey into the hobby would have been so much easier!

It's a thorough read covering several aspects of mushrooms like what's special about mushrooms, what the best way to grow them, and harvesting them just to name a few. I found the chapter on ten mushroom projects to do at home to be really useful.

As a beginner, I purchased this book hoping it would clearly guide me through the process of growing mushrooms at home. While the content was engaging, I found the explanations more confusing than helpful. Instead of gaining clarity, I finished the book feeling even more unsure about where to start.
