Perfect for monitoring hot tub from inside
It can be a very costly mistake if your hot tub gets an error and shuts down in freezing weather.Got this device to monitor my spa's temperature especially in cold weather. We have had several times where the unit has shut down and we didn't know it. I normally check it every day or two just to monitor water quality and make sure it's running correctly. We have also had several power outages in severe weather and didn't want to open the lid to preserve what heat it had. This monitor allows you to see the temperature remotely without having to open the top of the spa. The remote is clear and easy to read. The range is sufficient to get through the fiberglass and house wall..2 Aaa batteries last about 4 to 5 months.Great product. Water right sensor and even comes with a couple of plastic wrench to aid in opening. The remind me of our water filter wrench.Well designed and works flawlessly.A must have for outdoor spa's

The sending unit failed after only 3 months
Please read the ENTIRE review, including the edit at the end.I bought the pool thermometer in early July of this year, i.e., 2023, through Amazon. It has already failed. At first I was very pleased with the unit. However today, i.e., Sunday, 1 October 2023, the sending unit failed. When the indoor unit showed only - - - - for the temperature, I lifted out outdoor unit out of the pool and looked at the temperature display; it was blank. According to the instructions the batteries should have a life of at least 12 months.Previously I tried two other brands of pool thermometers. They also failed very prematurely. So, think twice before purchasing any electronic pool thermometers.Although it appears that the sending unit batteries are unlikely to be the problem, I shall try installing new batteries just in case it is the batteries. If it works with new batteries, I shall amend this post.*************** EDIT ****************In an effort to determine the cause of the failure, I replaced the batteries in the sending unit even though it had been in use for only 3 months. IT WORKED!!!Next I replaced the new batteries with the old batteries. IT WORKED!!!Here is my conclusion. The springs in the battery holder are very weak. As a result the connections are not very good and are prone to failure. There is no obvious way for owners to increase the force of the springs to solve the problem.*************** SUGGESTIONS FOR MANUFACTURER ***********Use much stronger springs in the battery holder to improve the reliability of the connections. Also use a longer pair of wires to connect the removable top of the sender with the bottom. The wires are so short that installing and removing the batteries is unnecessarily difficult and may place a strain on the wires thereby leading to failure.

Keeps a tight seal
Had ordered a different brand that stopped working due to moisture issues. This unit comes with tools to install or replace the battery. It was not easy to use the wrenches to seal the unit but it was definitely worth the trouble. The unit has zero moisture and is going strong, even in the 122F degree heat. Would purchase again.

Purchased for my KOI pond, works great!
Easy enough to set up & interior display unit is a perfect size, easy to read. Placed it inside the skimmer area on the back area, not where the basket is. this is enclosed and the unit still transmits perfectly and at a good distance.

Battery dies often
The battery continuously dies. It works great for a couple months then stops and you have to replace the batteries. We are throwing out and buying a better brand.

When pool thermometer top gets wet, display become un-readable
It is a very nice thermometer and indoor display, until the top of the thermometer gets wet by rain or splashed pool water. Then the display on the thermometer gets distorted and difficult to read. It does clear up after several hours. Would be much better if the display was better sealed to keep out the water.

Sturdy
It was bought last year to monitor the temperature of an outside fish pond so not the cleanest environment. The batteries lasted for about almost a year. I saw that there was a little moisture in the unit when replacing the batteies but it still working several weeks later.
