2nd Dalstrong Fillet Knife
Update: After talking with Dalstrong, they have replaced my dull fillet knife with a new razor sharp fillet knife. The dull fillet knife they sent me has been returned to them for inspection. I am extremely pleased with the new fillet knife but more than that, i am beyond pleased by how much Dalstrong cares about its customer and how they stand behind their product 100%! You cannot go wrong, with Dalstrong!Original review below:This is a review of the Dalstrong Night Shark Series 4.7" Fillet Knife.Let me start by saying I am a big fan of Dalstrong knives. I love them and have purchased dozens of Dalstrong knifes. I even give them away for wedding and house warming gifts.Maybe I am just unlucky or maybe its something else but this is the second time I have purchased a Dalstrong filet knife and it came to me dull! The very tip of the knife is sharp enough but the closer you move to the handle the more dull it becomes. The part of the blade closest to the handle is not just dull but actually blunt! Also, this knife is in my opinion is to ridged to be a fillet knife. I expect a fillet knife to be flexible but this is more of a boning knife. I was really hoping for a short, sharp, and flexible fillet knife to use for trimming meat.Very Disappointing.

Nice bait knife
The only thing that I would like to see is a clip rather than a slim leather snap to keep knife on your belt,in addition the snap holding the knife in sheath is difficult to snap into place

WTF
I dont know what kind of fun nose candy the designers like to indulge in. But wow! In the 80’s i bought a cheap survival knife you know the one with the compass on the end and the vinyl sheath with the tiny sharpening stone. Well that sheath might actually be designed by the same person that designed this one. I could probably stack 12 of these blades side by side and fit inside this tent of a sheath. And not one but two vinyl straps to hold the handle? This company might be headed the wrong direction. The normal plastic sheath that this company would be a million times better than this abomination from the 80’s. They could pay me to consult / field test and let someone else go and save some money and disappointed customers. The knife seems good so far though.

Sexy knife
Dalstrong practically invented the 'sexy' knife by not being afraid to experiment with new materials and great design while keeping their quality high. This is a small filet knife which arrives with some swag--a magnetic pin, some literature and a really nice water comfortable sheath which can be used on your belt or simply in the drawer. The knife has a rubber/acrylic handle which has an aggressive finger slot and plenty of grip for when your hands are slimy. The blade is stout stainless with a black finish and comes nicely sharpened to about 17 degrees. There is no bend to the blade ( flexibility in filet blades is a benefit in my opinion as it helps youto keep the blade flat) because of it's stubby length (which is not a fault of the knife.)Presented in a giftable box.

Husband Loves This!
I got this for my husband on fathers day. We were both extremely impressed with the packaging and the qualify of the knife itself! It is very sleek, durable and the design is pleasing to the eye! I loved that the knife came with a heavy metal pin as a "bonus". My husband is planning on using this knife for hunting/fishing. The blade is sharp and the handle has good design and grip. Overall we were very pleased and plan on buying the other knife options as well to complete the set!
