How to Get Out of Your Own Way

I ordered this book to see what all the fuss was about. I was really skeptical when I received it. After reading the prayer I was convinced. Anointed! I continued reading and saw much myself in this book. At the age of 47 I have been feeling very dissatisfied with my life. Feeling like I'm in a box and need to break out. God has blessed me with many talents that I let go to waste. How To Get Out of Your Own Way has been an eye opener for me. It literally made me cry. I can identify with many of things that Tyrese is saying and has experienced. I am reader and has read a lot of informational books. Christian, Self-Help, etc.... I can say this is by far the BEST book I have read yet. It is written in a way where anyone (young or old) can relate to it. How To Get Out of Your Own Way has inspired me to make some major changes in my life. I feel that everything Tyrese has gone through in his life was ordained by God to lead up to this very moment ...A platform to inspire others to step out in faith, set goals, and reach higher heights in life. Im passing this on to my 5 children... God Bless U Tyrese....

First of I want to thank you for writing a book that has inspired me in many ways. I am not done with the book yet but every chance I get a read and can't seem to put it done. I have to admit it I do not like reading but something told me to get this book and it has opened new windows for me and it has giving me a different view in life. I am sorry for everything you went through as a child, but God put test in our lives to see how we could handle them and you handle them VERY, VERY good. I am so proud of you and I look up to you a lot. I am from Chicago and I have lived in bad neighborhoods as yourself and I thank God that I am still alive. Your book will open up a lot of peoples eyes and hopefully a lot of them people would be the young kids out in the world doing wrong not because they do not know any better but because they choose to. Thank you for opening up my eyes in why my man cheated on me. I've always felt like I was not good enough and everything that I did for my ex-s wasn't enough and it was not me. It's just men do not know how to appreciate the good they have in a women. I am going to continue reading your book and once I am done with it and I was to ever feel down again I would grab it and read it again so it could remind me how much I could do for myself. This book EVERYBODY NEED TO READ! Pages filled wit much wisdom & Truth all frm the heart and soul of a strong black man. I told my son when I finished he was reading this book he is 13yrs old and I believe this book will give him a different look on life as a person, and as a young black male. The words speak to you in a high level. Of Clarity. Tyrese has share words that come from the LORD. and he will be truly BLESSED! Thank you ! U have giving me a gift of hope and knowledge.! MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU.. LOVE YOU :) I can't stop reading this book ... I continue to read a chapter a day now. Everest I feel a different way and I search for the chapter the fits how I feel or Whts bothme and read it.IT HELPS ME GET THROUGH. TYRESE IS A GENIUS AND I ADORE HIM!! I am an avid reader of self-help, memoirs and inspirational books. I've read some of the greats from Maya Angelou, Iyanla, Anthony Robbins, Ekhart Tolle, Mitch Albom etc, I picked up Tyrese's book becuause I have followed his career since I first saw his commercial with him getting on the bus singing his heart out-I loved that commercial! I wanted to see and hear what he had to say in his book. The title caught my attention. I was pleasantly surprised at his level of honesty and how delightful it was to read. No, he isn't Maya or Mitch but he did a very fine job at telling his story and mixing it up with inspirational tidbits. I applaud his realness in the area of relationships and in telling about his childhood. He was blessed with a gift and God saw fit for him to make it in film and music. Nothing is by accident. In many ways, his book reminds me of our book which is also on Amazon and other retailers-"Why Do I Have to Think Like a Man? How to Think Like a Lady and Still Get the Man"-his, like ours is a hybrid of sorts, part storytelling and sharing of lessons learned-memoir, part inspiration and real talk. Great job Tyrese! Keep following God's plan and touching lives. There is no limit for your life!

Great read

This is a book i would recommend to everyone young or older. I can't really find the best way to tell you how great and inspiring Mr Tyrese Gibson book is. This book come at a very right time for me. I just moved into a new city in LA from South Africa and also dealing with the loss of the only person i had left with in my family my sister. Every day i felt as thou the world was falling on me, I wasn't inspired to get up in the morning and fight for my life. I was grieving and wondering why God took all the people i loved. i felt lonely and felt as thou my dreams were all crashed however after reading Mr Tyrese Gibson Book I was more then inspired, I have hope again, i am pursuing my dreams and i look forward to every new day cause i know it has greater opportunities waiting for me to tap in. I think positive, pray and take action. In this book you will learn how to move forward, love yourself enough to get out of your comfort Zone. You will also learn that He is not just a singer, actor He is more than that His a man of God who is selfless. This book is a blessing and i know it will bless you as much as it has blessed me. Today i know thou i have nobody but i have people like Tyrese who care to inspire and uplift others. I thank him for allowing God to use him. I bought 7 books to ship back home for my cousins and plan to buy more for kids in an orphanage i grew up in. There is no way i could keep this book to myself my wish is for every person like me to read this book cause i know there life WILL be TRANSFORMED FOREVER Excuse me English is not my first language but i tried.

What I love MOST about this book is that it talks to me from real life. Tyrese does not talk from some kind of ideal but really from a real human life experience. He doesn't moralise or judge but says it as it is. This is one thing I completely relate to and share in the way of looking at life. People don't intentionally mess up their lives. They do so because there are many factors affecting their decisions and actions. a teenager does not intentionally get pregnant. It happens because it is normal for young people to have sexual feelings, plus, she probably did not get an education on birth control, plus, she probably comes from a religious community that moralises sexuality amongst young people. So we should not judge and condemn, but try to understand and support each other. Another thing is that we all have different choices and preferences in life. There should be room for that too. I may want to be a christian, another person may prefer to be a muslim or even a pagan. Some people will want everyone to be the way THEY think is the right way to be or to behave, but that is just being small minded, in my opinion. I love what he says about our ideas being a gift to the world. Imagine if the person who thought of airplanes had never worked out that idea! We would not be travelling the world as we do today. Or the person that thought of a chair, or a spoon, or a needle....I am a social entrepreneur and this has helped me to believe even more working out the ideas that I see in my head. This is one man I'd love to meet in person. I am letting mother Universe know that this is my wish, and I know it will happen. And until then, we are connected through Facebook and the books. For that I am forever grateful.

I think that this is a good book for someone who has a developing sense of self and is still trying to sort through some of the pieces that they are twittering over. The advice that Tyrese offered is encouraging, for the most part it is full of good take aways. However,there's are some parts that were a little circular or contradictory. I do think that it was a good overall because you can tell the sincerity in his message,as told through his past experiences. I appreciated that because his struggles,opportunities and opposition he faced -are all the same that everyone can or has experienced in their lifetime.

The price of the book is lesser than the knowledge in the book.Its a must read and i recommend it to everyone

Great read! Great read! So good I had to say it twice. I bought this book, just off of being familiar with and enjoying this man's music. Before I bought it, I did my research, watching interviews with Tyrese talking about his book and how he had changed his life for the better. From this, I could see his passion and that he had grown a lot more in a spiritual sense. Finding his interviews intriguing helped me finalise my decision of buying his book and I don't regret it at all or have any negative comments to make about it. Ultimately, if you're looking for ways to begin self improvement, this book is a great way to start, especially for those in relationships, coming out of one or for singles perhaps looking for ways to deal with past relationships. I found it interesting to read from a man's perspective about relationships and how to deal with bad experiences. The guidance and support offered is really good. This book deals with relationships, life experiences and spirituality - becoming closer to God. I would definitely recommend this, you'll go away learning something.

Meiner Meinung nach Pflichtlektüre für junge Menschen und auch ich (28) habe es regelrecht verschlungen. Danke Tyrese!!! ___ This book touched me that much that i`m just about to translate it into german language as my boyfriend is not that much into english. I think this is a must read for younger people and even myself (28 yrs) read it through a couple of days. Thank you so much Tyrese (still favourite singer besides Tank!!!)

Absolutely loved this book. Hit an all time low in my life and I'm a big big fan of Tyrese. I have been meaning to read this book for a long time and read it at the best time as I am now more motivated, dedicated and ambitious. I believe in myself more and I would like to thank Tyrese for that. He opens up about his childhood and talks about how he worked his way up to where is now and never gave up. He then goes on to advise and inspire people to do the same and elaborates on each point. He always reminds the reader that they can do whatever they want. Thank you Tyrese. I will forever love you and support you!
