Is this system truly wireless, or do the rear speakers need to be wired to a wireless subwoofer?

The rear speakers are wired to and powered by a "remote" unit if you. Thus, if you place the rear speakers at the rear of your viewing area (they're rear speakers after all) and you place your subwoofer at the front of your viewing area like a normal person you don't have to worry about wires running between the subwoofer and the rear speakers.

It says Bluetooth. Can I connect wireless headphones to this?

Why would you like to connect headphones to a speaker system? If you want to listen to the tv wirelessly with your headphones I recommend getting a Bluetooth adapter with a 3.5mm jack and plugging it Into the jack on the back of the tv then pairing! 👍🏼

I have an lg oled b7a. is this a good match? i want to control the volume with my tv remote; is that how this system works?

I have a pretty old LED 42" and I was able to connect this system wirelessly to my TV using something called "LG Sound Sync" in the options menu under sound options. I am able to use the original control that came with my TV to adjust the volume of the soundbar.
