Great sound but let down but cheap remote and cd tray that developed issues after five weeks
have just returned this unit to a well known hifi chain , as the cd tray had developed an intermittent fault after five weeks , the sound quality is very good and the streamer is a nice touch , but the cd tray is very flimsy and of poor quality when compared to the older arcam models . If you are thinking about buying this player check out the Marantz sa8005 or buy a used arcam cd192 or as I have got an arcam dv135 as it plays sa cds an after living with the cds27 for a while I am going back to my older dv135 as it is better built and Is quieter than the cds27 which has started to produce noise from the cd drive which you can be distracting during quiet sections of a track. The remote is flimsy when compared to the dv135s remote and it is not as responsive as the Marantz remote that I have been using instead of the one supplied . Also check out the rotel rcd12 which I also auditioned against the arcam and did not purchase but I will be looking at again as I now realise that a streamer is not as important as I thought. UPDATE TO REVIEW in the end I went for the audio lab cd8300 which is a massive step up from the arcam and well worth the extra money as it also acts as a preamp and has 4 digital inputs, the build quality is much better and the remote is simple and well designed and built and , I have had the audiolab for approx. 15 months now and can't fault it and yes I still have my trusty old dv135 as it plays sacd discs and still works
