You need to buy this bed!!
Nearly 5 hours of my life this took. I’m never one to shy away from a flat pack, but FIVE HOURS!!? Even with the world’s easiest instructions to follow!! The product arrived earlier than estimated and all parts listed were present. My 12yo son now actually has floor space in his minuscule bedroom rather than the square metre of carpet he used to have, he has a proper desk to work at and he is a very, very happy bunny. I’d build this over again if it meant the smile on his face stays where it is. Also, while building this my husband and I didn’t argue, throw anything at each other, fall out, shout, scream or swear and we worked like the absolute beast of a team we are when I call the shots. My son is over the moon with it, and so are we. I attached it to the wall with the supplied fittings because although it’s sturdy enough for my son climb up and down on, I still have to get up there to change covers. It’s definitely not a flimsy piece of furniture so I don’t believe it would fall over, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. We did have to contact the seller and request a new desk top as the original was damaged but the replacement was free and came within two days, and their customer service during this process was excellent. So overall, a win win all round. Well done Stricly Beds and Bunks!

Complicated to build but sturdy, beautiful beds
Building these beds takes some time and at least two adults. It's not like an IKEA bed where things just click into each other... sometimes you need physical strength to push parts together or screw in skrews. BUT the beds are made from 100% wood (apart from screws and fixings) and this is not true of most beds these days. The table under this version is made from some pressed wood (maybe mdf?) and it's not as beautiful as the rest of the bed, also very heavy. It stains easily and probably could do well with coating it in some way to protect it against stains of all sorts. But it is very functional and the shelf is very beautiful.

My teenage son loves this bed but give yourself plenty time to assemble it.
Before you assemble this bed, grab a cuppa, read the instructions and give yourself plenty of time. My son happened to be staying over his nan's house while we erected his new bed. So his father and I assembled it over three days. It probably took us a total of 15 hours taking our time. It needs two people. Bought this bed as it seem a sturdy option for my teenage son who was getting to the point of needing more floor space in his small bedroom. We didn't realize that it would need to be made stable by attaching it to wall via brackets. As we rent and are not allowed to do that we got around that. The wood was good quality and has been left for you to finish how you would like. We have just kept it plain. I saw that some people reviewed that they were upset with the mdf table not matching the pine wood. I actually didn't mind as I wanted to personalize it using sticky back plastic surface covering. My son was chuffed with the bed. He gets up and down from it ok. He sits at the desk gaming. The chair that came with it folds away and is comfortable he says. He has had it for a few months now and still likes and gets on with it.

Ladder is not wide enough
If you’re a heavier person ordering this , beware , the ladders are quite slim and since it’s a straight ladder getting down is a bit challenging . I find that the bed is keeps wobbling when getting on and off . But it is quite sturdy

Great, sturdy bed and very good value for money
We got the bunkbed for my 7-year-old son for Christmas, to create a bigger playing space in his bedroom. It works perfectly for a 7-year old: I can't stand straight under the bed with my 1meter70 as my son does, but I CAN still use his desk - which I am doing now while I write. The bed is sturdy and easy to assemble, though obviously one needs to have a long free morning or afternoon to get it done (I reckon about 4 hours for experienced people). Having checked the market, it seems not possible to me to find a cheaper bunkbed with the same quality: one would end up with a flimsy piece of furniture, and as the bunkbed is TALL (I did climb up there!), you do not want to have that, as it would be unsafe. So this bunkbed was the perfect choice for me. Btw consider the fact that probably a robust cleaning lady would not want to climb up there to change the bedsheets, you have to do it yourself. But it seems perfectly safe even for an adult to use occasionally, so for me this is not a problem. Also consider the safer option to fix the bed to the wall. And I would not recommed it for a child under 6 years old. Also, I would not use a super-thick mattress because the safety rail would become too low: my mattress just fits. Delivery: they are prompt and true to their word, and give you an exact time slot for the delivery by email: great service even during the busy Christmas period. Oh, and the plus side: the wood simply smells heavenly!

Bought for my daughter, she is happy with it - perfect for compact spaces
British made product. Pine wood seems good quality, if little bit rough finishing on some of the wood pieces supplied. You may need some sand paper to smooth out the rough edges. Instructions, better than I expected. I will always liked assembling IKEA products as no words required and picture sequence and clarity of the pictures always seemed perfect. Instructions, not quite IKEA standard, but not bad either, detailed. I found, best to separate the items and label them with post-its and then follow the sequential instructions. Electric screwdriver saves a lot of time. Would buy from them again, definitely. The delivery man was very pleasant and helpful - did not dump the items on the pavement citing insurance restrictions. Gave him a hand to bring the boxes inside. Perfect!
