Great Addition to the series!
Here we have yet another film entry in the Resident Evil franchise, with this one being a direct sequel to the previous animated film "Resident Evil: Vendetta". If you've never seen "Vendetta", don't worry because the film's story still stands on its own and can be enjoyed without watching any of the other films, or even the games for that matter. It definitely helps if your familiar with the characters and previous stories, but it's not necessary to enjoy it. The basic story features our classic action heroes finding a new zombie virus and tracing it back to Alcatraz Island of all places and having to deal with zombies and other mutant monsters along the way. The story is unfortunately kind of generic as far as resident evil stories go. It's your typical "Bad guy with a tragic past creates a new zombie virus with a new gimmick and wants to get revenge on society by unleashing his virus on the world". It's a story that we have seen a million times within the resident evil franchise and the lead bad guy seems like an exact copy of the bad guy from the previous film "Vendetta". It's not bad, just kind of bland, at least on paper. Thankfully while the story isn't too original, everything else is done very well. This film has some of the best motion capture animation that we've seen in any of these resident evil animated films and the action and fight choreography is top notch and very creative. The film looks beautiful as well with the CGI textures being some of the most detailed I've seen in an animated film, at least outside of Pixar or Disney. It looks great and is very entertaining. Long time fans of the franchise will also be happy to see that we have all of the classic video game characters together in one film for the first time ever. We get to see Chris, Clair, Rebecca, and Leon all work together to fight zombies on Alcatraz Island. What more could you want? Overall, it's a fun movie with some good action and visuals. While it is nice to see all the classic characters together, the film still suffers from having a generic story. Not to mention that the way the story is written, it doesn't really feel that impactful to the overall resident evil franchise. Honestly, I feel like the previous film "Vendetta" had a better script and made better use of the characters but this film still works on it's own merit and has just as good if not better action and animation. The whole thing kind of just feels like an excuse to have fan-favorite characters come together and fight zombies on Alcatraz Island, which is nice, but still. I would definitely recommend this if your a fan of the video games as this is definitely the better than any of the other live action films(both in terms of action and story), or if your just a fan of adult animation in general.

Love the Monsters in This Film
Sadly, my steelbook was damaged at the factory before being packaged, and had a small scratch on the front corner. At least it's Resident Evil, so the grunge look works. Not Amazon's fault, just expect a chance for imperfections. The movie itself is great like all the other CGI films. I found the plot to be a little weaker than some of the others, but the monsters are probably the best ones in this film series. It was great seeing so many big characters in this movie together, and the animation is top notch. The steelbook has a Licker on the back, and Jill and Leon on the inside. Super nice design, and looks great in the collection. If you're a fan of any of the other animated films, this is definitely one to check out.

Story is a bit meh but otherwise very entertaining and cool
Two hours, so actually feels like a movie and not some rushed out product. I did notice some animation stuttering or errors here and there, they're minor but it was a bit surprising. I'd call this movie very fan servicey, but in a good way. In a "you get to see these characters actually interact and discuss things" way, not in a beach episode way. Villain motivation was lacking, but his plan wasn't too over the top really. Still wildly evil and unnecessary, but he's the villain (i do like his back story, we get it in flashbacks).Get the story they were trying to tell, focusing on Jill. I don't remember watching the Vendetta film, but apparently this is more of a sequel to that film. Do recommend!

A bit different than the other animated movies
Visually, great movie. Always been a huge fan of the animated movies, and the animation quality of this latest entry is on par woth what you would hope for. The story felt kind of rushed compared to the previous animated films, and didn't have the same flow and buildup. Still, zombies, so 4 stars.
