It actually worked!!! I have been occasionally buying lava lamps since i was a teen.. probably bought 5 of them over 20 yrs. They have NEVER worked. Lol. It's so frustrating! So I was obviously pretty skeptical getting one delivered. But it works! The first time I turned it on it took over 6 hrs to start to really work tho. So don't be discouraged the first time when it doesn't work quickly. But the 2nd time it only took a cpl hrs so it just takes longer the first time. The colors are very pretty and it fits perfectly on the side table by my recliner so I can watch it as I relax watching TV. It doesnt get too hot to touch either, which is good. The price is not cheap tho. 40 dollars seems a bit steep, I just got one recently at target that was $25, and it was the same size and also nice colors. But of course that one didn't work even after being plugged in over a day, and had to be returned..so to actually get one that works and is so pretty too, love it, I'm happy!

I have been wanting one of these since I was 9 years old. I have looked at other lava lamps, but this is the real thing, or at least as far as I can remember. I would suggest that you read the instructions before you use the lamp. It is very accurate. The colors might be slightly different as the wax heats but this is normal. Mine is more pink than purple, and the water is more green than blue, the hotter it gets. It took me 62 years, but I finally got one. I bought it for my birthday. It brought back a lot of good memories, thanks.

Updated Review: Very disappointed. The replacement lamp only lasted a day. The bulb didn't burn out, but something went wrong with the lava. Half pooled up at the bottom not moving, the other half is floating at the top and looks like a chunk of iceberg and also does not move. This is after one day of use. Unfortunately, I'm returning it for a refund and will look at products from someone other than "the original lava lamp company" for a lava lamp. I do not recommend this lava lamp, at any price. For the price I paid the quality of the build and the materials is very good. Any changes to the materials I would suggest to make it heavier or make it one piece would certainly increase the price. The colors on the base and the cap are bright and vibrant and arrived with zero damage. The actual glass lamp part is very nice and very heavy. Crystal clear glass, no blemishes. The teal fluid is a vibrant teal and almost clear. The purple lava goo is a vibrant purple and appears to change between purple and blue as it moves. Movement with the included bulb is very nice and I really enjoy watching it. This is what I expected from an "original" lava lamp. I will buy more. I am looking forward to seeing the larger 16" version. I have to note that the 1st one I received was pretty much the exact opposite. While the colors on the base and cap were fine, there was clearly either damage or manufacturing defects. The 2nd one I received is near flawless. The teal fluid in the first one was a murky puke green. It was so murky you could only see the lava at the very top of the lamp, and it slowly disappeared as it sank to the bottom. The 1st one I received was NOT what I expected from the "original" lava lamp company. I'm glad I decided to try exchanging it for another one rather than giving up and requesting a refund.

Honestly, it’s a pretty solid product I mean for the brightness it’s not so bright but I think overall it’s a pretty good lava lamp but mine did come with a few scratches on it but honestly, I don’t really care but I would write this a solid, good lava lamp does what a lava lamp does.

Exactly what I wanted & expected!! My spouse & I have been zoned out watching it for hours it seems! ☺️ I see a lot of reviews complaining about this lava lamp being foggy/cloudy, but I believe it’s likely happening from the lava lamp being moved around or shaken when warm, because that would cause that issue to occur!! I think sometimes unfortunately it also just happens to get too shaken up during delivery, no fault of the recipient, but still a possibility for the cloudiness! Anyway, I am 100% satisfied and excited to have had no issues with it! When you get this item initially, it’s important to very gently move or coax the metal coil to the bottom of the lamp, nearest to the light bulb, as this is the way it heats everything up! Once the metal coil is at the bottom, it usually stays in place and you’re good to go! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

After reading lots of reviews and seeing the difference myself, it seems there's a quality control issue with this particular lava lamp. My first unit was cloudy, and the base was misshapen a bit. The sublimated design on the cap wasn't aligned properly, leaving a very visible seam. My second unit appears to be perfect. This is an expensive enough lamp that you shouldn't settle for a defective unit. If yours is cloudy, exchange it! The difference is dramatic. My replacement unit is much better all around - the base is perfect, the cap is perfect, and the liquid is reasonably clear. Other reviewers have posted photos of this lamp with even clearer liquid, so I'd say mine is probably about 90% perfect. As these lamps go, I really like this one, in spite of the QA issues. The color scheme is very pretty in person.

Would buy again and again... HOWEVER, (BUYER BEWARE) it is overall much darker than expected. The liquid is more of a turquoise/aquamarine shade which can seem murky with the light off. The wax in mine is a lighter shade of purple than in the image. As the liquid in the lamp thins and flows it bubbles into shades of purple, pink and even some green down near the light. I honestly do love it and I feel (in my opinion) that the colors remind ME of the colors of the northern lights and not overly fake bright color. I actually sat on this review for several weeks before typing it out. Honestly, I was initially disappointed as it didn't "look" like the photo. Tried the whole clearing up process without achieving the "photo look". So I sat and watched it every night and actually realized that I appreciate it more for the color it IS and how closely (in my opinion) looks like the actual muted colors of the aurora.

Worst product ever! The very first one I ordered had a crack, so they sent me a replacement. Really easy fix and I threw the first one away. The second one comes and was so cloudy you couldn't even see the inside, so I returned it for a replacement. The third one came and was also cloudy I refused to give up, because I absolutely loved the style and color of this particular lava lamp. However I reached out to the company and they wrote back saying cloudiness is normal and gave me instructions to "troubleshoot" the cloudiness away I tried that twice and it's still very cloudy, and the "lava" itself gets air bubbles in it and I have finally given up on this product specifically after THREE SEPARATE tries. I've now put in for a return and will use the money to buy a lava lamp through a different company! Wish it was a better outcome cause I do love the looks, and design of this one specifically! The last picture you can see the air bubbles in the lava and the fact that the cloudiness never went away!

This should not be sold in the UK - it is for the wrong voltage and has an American plug on it. Very annoying - I nwe have to go through all the palava of returning it.

Works better than expected. I can leave it on for over 9 hours without it overheating.

Pretty happy with it. Takes 3 hours from cold when plugged in so that’s normal. Very nice colours.

​I was so excited to add this lava lamp to my room, but opening the package was a nightmare. The box arrived completely crushed, and I could immediately hear the sound of glass rattling around inside. ​When I opened it up, the base and light bulb were fine, but the actual glass globe was shattered into a million pieces. The entire inside of the box was a soaking wet mess of liquid, shards, and wax. ​To make matters worse, as I was trying to pull the components out, I got a severe cut on my hand from a shard of glass that was stuck to the inner cardboard. This isn't just a broken product; it's a safety hazard. Zero stars if I could.
