Not .just a pretty face
It was a pleasant day and gave me a little escapism . To enter a world of rich tapestry of a life I would never be a part of .

A pleasant light read with a fairly predictable plot
This novel is set in the world of super-rich Americans in the late 1920s and the start of the 1930s. Pandora, daughter of a top tennis instructor employed by wealthy Americans, has become very much part of their milieu. We see her disappointed in love, then having a marriage that does not work out, and finally achieving happiness. Side by side with this she struggles to realise her business ambitions. The plot had no surprises for me, and I found aspects of Pandora's integration into the American upper class unconvincing, and the same was true of the ease with which everything came right in the end. But the book is a light, pleasant and undemanding read.

A reasonably enjoyable book but I found the whole set-up unconvincing. A sports coach's daughter, living with a wealthy family, becomes best friends with the children of the family - an unlikely scenario, I think, in the 1920s where the book is set. It is, believe, intended to celebrate women starting to become independent during this time, but the history does not seem quite well enough researched.A glaring error: a whole street of houses burns down but a parked car is undamaged and ready to take the owner home. A good deal of editing would have improved the irritations of various errors in the prose and the plotting.

A light read.
After the first chapter I was going to abandon this but thought I’d keep going. It was ok, a bit of an unlikely and unbelievable storyline but if you think of it as a harmless little story with some entertainment in it then you’ll be fine. Not brilliantly written and rather predictable through its story lines but there is potential for the writer to expand and maybe do some better books in the future, her descriptions and ability to capture the atmosphere of an era was good, the characters were just a bit flimsy.

Review
Not much depth to the story . Not too believable . The characters were shallow. I felt dialogue was very repetitive.
