Levi's Men's 511 Slim Fit Jeans (Discontinued)

In general, I like this style of pants and the quality and the price, etc. etc. I'm not super happy with my purchase, but this was totally my bad, so still 5 stars.I bought a pair of 511s at Urban outfitters and loved them, so I decided to get a pair off Amazon (which is about half the cost of buying them at Urban Outfitters, without the hassle of cool, fashionable, in shape kids whose presence makes you suffer the realization that you have much less hair and much more gut than you did in the early 2000s). I bought the "Rigid Dragon" (sounds like the title of a Skyrim themed porn?) thinking that was the same style/color that I bought at the store. Turns out, it wasn't, and this color has 1% spandex (vs. the 2% in my other pants), and is therefore less yielding to my aforementioned declining physique. In hindsight, I think the color I bought at the store was "Rinsed Playa" (sounds like the title of a failed Outkast song). That being said, I do like the rigid dragon style: the fabric is stiffer and more durable, and it's a REALLY dark blue, which I dig. I just wish I would have gone a size larger so I wouldn't have to struggle to roll them over my shapely man-calves or fit them over my boots. Also, less junk-crushing would be good.So anyway, my point is that even if you are buying the same cut and size of these jeans, they will probably fit differently. The fabric composition of each color is on the description, so make sure you check it out.

So I ordered a pair of these Levi 511s as well as a pair of  Lee Modern Series Slim Fit Straight Leg  jeans, both in size 32x32. The quality of both pairs of jeans are comparable, but these 511s didn't fit quite like I expected around the waist. Nearly every well fitting pair of pants I own are size 32x32 and I can usually just grab that size and have no issues, but that didn't work here.I do understand that these are slim fit and that the Lee's are slim straight legged (more comparable to the Levi 513s), but it wasn't the legs that didn't fit, it's that these 511s were uncomfortable tight around the waist. I've worn skinny jeans before, and even if they are tight on the legs, they should still fit on the waist.Since I really liked the way the Lee's fit, I ended up returning these Levi's and getting a second pair of the Lee's in a different color. Plus, they're also cheaper.Besides the issue of not quite fitting as I would expect, there was nothing wrong with the jeans. The material seemed comfortable, the stitching looked good and strong, and they look really nice.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Levi's. I've owned a few pairs of 511's, I tend to pick some up whenever they're on sale.When I was younger I spent loads more money on "nicer" pants at places like Nordstrom. Don't get me wrong, I still love "nice"/expensive things, but I just can't justify the expense the same way.These are great and I can pick up 5 or 6 pairs for the same price as one pair of Nudie's or Hudson's...They fit well, don't look or feel cheap, and seem to be durable.They're tight in the thighs (for me), but pretty loose at the waist, at least relative to other pants I own.Also, the only thing to be cautious of/aware of when ordering.... I don't feel that the fit on these is consistent. I've had a few pairs over the years, and some have been total "keepers", others just have not felt right. One pair shrunk so much after first wash, I never really wore them again. I later discovered 511's have different fabric, for instance black stretch has lycra in it, so they will shrink!Overall, for the price, you can't really go wrong.

Let me first say that I very rarely write reviews. I would, also, like to caveat that I have never left a one star review. I understand mistakes. We are human and mistakes are plentiful, but what I received in the mail was an absolute fraud in every way, shape, and form. I do not like being tricked. Let me highlight every facade in what I received.I ordered: Levi's Men's 511 Slim Fit jean, Rigid Dragon, 32x34I have added pictures to illustrate my points.Color: Rigid Dragon is a dark, unwashed denim colorway. What I received was on the darker side of the spectrum, but most definitely a pre-distressed denim. The denim was wrong, and the stitching was the wrong color. Most definitely not rigid dragon. What was worse is that there were tags stuffed into the back pocket claiming it was raw denim. STUFFED. Not attached. Now, this may sound snobby, but I know raw denim. I have had my Unbranded, 3sixteen, and Rogue Territory forays into the world of raw denim. This isn't. This was an intentional mislead which insults my intelligence.Size: I have one other pair of Levi stretch denim in the 511 cut. It is, also, 32x34. I understand Levi's QC is iffy sometimes, but it litterally says 32x34 on the sticker on the front. I tried to put them on. I was like, "wow, these are so tight." I checked the tag on the back.... they are 33x34. So, I was again intentionally mislead as to the sizing. I'm surprised they are so tight being an inch larger in the waist. So, I checked the stretch. Yeah, It says "stretch" on the front sticker, but what about the tag on the inside...... 100% cotton.I am quite frustrated, but I am giving it one more chance. I will update my review when I receive my replacements.

These jeans fit perfect and the shape is great, better than the pictures. I had to return my first order as I did not realize I had gain some weight, the reimbursement was fast. Enough said, it's a Levi's. It is pricey, but you will hardly find better pairs in the market. I will recommend to buy a second one to extend their longevity.

I used to buy Levi's because of their reliability and sturdy quality, but on this pair stitching around the back left pocket came undone after just one wash.Of course, now I can't return them. Not impressed.

Been wearing these for a few months now and only line dry them. I'm usually fine with slim fit but these are tight AF and only loosen up after wearing them for a couple of days.

I was amazed these fit as expected as usually it takes a couple of pairs to find the right ones. I’ll still order with the expectation I’ll have to return for another pair to get it right due to the size variance (which is fine). So this time - pleasantly surprised.
