Rove R2-4K PRO Dash Cam, 4K UHD 2160P 30fps, Built-in GPS and 5.8GHz WiFi

Great camera. Went from a $500 blackvue to this. Does the same job, for a fraction of the price. No app required to view videos. Just take out the memory card and plug into your computer. One of the few cameras that records at 60fps. Great for catching license plates. I used the hard wire kit also from rove. Installation was easy and setup was also very easy. I have this model in all my cars. Cameras work great and assures me some peace of mind. Works seamlessly in ny weather, from 0 to 100 degrees, no issues. I have also recommended this to all my friends and family. Had a tiny issue and reached out to the manufacturer. The responded within minutes and fixed my issue, no questions asked. Great, affordable camera, backed by a great customer service.

Got his a while ago for a trip I was going to take to Arizona after a previous trip to there I almost got to 3 accidents because people got impatient and wanted to pass a giant lane of cars. Anyway after that scare I decided to get a dashcam for trips. I found this camera and bought some of the accessories with it (memory card and anti-glare lens). Unfortunately my next trip to Arizona fell through and never used the camera until about 2 month ago. After witnessing an incident in the freeway. I remembered abut the camera and I could have used it to help out the person who got hit. So I took it out of the box and used it the next day. After using it for 2 months I can say that this was a great purchase. It is worth the price, The camera is light which is great because it wont pull from the suction in the window. Speaking of the suction, this one has a locking mechanism for it, you just put the suction pad on the window and turn the lock and sticks it in place, if you need to remove the camera, just turn the lock to unlock and pull the little tab on the suction to unstick it and bam easy removal. There is a second mount that come with the camera and that's for a more permanent placement. ( I haven't used it, probably never will, but it nice to have the option.) You can set the quality of videos. The video look alright from the camera itself but if you look at them through your phone they are waaay better quality. Speaking of looking video through your phone. To connect your phone to the camera is a bit confusing, took me a few tries to get it to work. You have to connect to the cameras WIFI in order to view the videos, unless of course you take the memory card out of the camera and use it on a computer but that takes a long time. A warning about the WIFI is that once you connect to it, your phone will think that you're trying to use its WIFI for signal. So the best thing to do is to set up the WIFI once and then set it up to manually connect to the camera or just turn off the WIFI from the camera settings. One concern for me is the camera getting hot. I live in the southwest so summers are super hot, I'm afraid to leave it on the window when I'm not using it during the day because I'm scared that it'll blow up from the heat haha so I remove the camera every time. I know it says that it can resist up to 140 degrees F. that still is scary for me to leave it.I have a few trips this month to Arizona and Texas which I will definitely take this camera with me, That will be my test on how hot it gets and if it still work fine. I will update later on this. TL:DR Camera is worth the price, video quality is great when viewing on phone, two mount options are great. Heat resistant but don't trust it yet until my summer trips to test it out. WIFI connection is confusing at first but once set up, its easy to use.

I am very pleased with the camera. The clarity of the videos is great. The wiring kit was straight forward to install and works fine. I purchased the ROVE R2-4K PRO and Dash Cam hard-wire kit. Initially I purchased another SD card but after reading the ROVE documentation, I returned the card and purchased the ROVE SD card. I don’t need problems. There are many things I like about the camera and wiring kit. The first thing I noticed when I opened the camera box is there is a ribbon that holds the lid, nice touch. I installed the camera myself and there was a learning curve. Mounting the camera was easy. Initially I used the suction mount to try different locations. Then I used the sticky mount for the final install because the mount went on the area of the windshield that has the black dots, frits, and the suction mount does not stick to that area. One thing I learned was when I switched from the suction mount to the sticky mount I was not sure how to get the mount off of the camera. It clicks on when you install the mount, and I did not want to break anything. But what I found is the bases for the mounts are the same so you just need to unscrew the top part of the mount, easy. Another thing to be aware of is if you use the sticky mount the part of the mount that goes on the windshield has a slot for the camera to slide into. Be careful to install it with the slot up, or the camera will fall out of the mount. Although the manuals that were included with the camera and wiring kit were excellent, as good as I have seen on products lately, there was still a learning curve for me. I chose the wiring kit because I did not want the wires hanging down and I really liked the fact the wiring kit has a feature that protects the battery from being run down if the car is not driven for a while. There are settings on the wiring kit that will shut the camera off if the voltage drops below a voltage that you select. I chose 12.2V and did test it and it worked properly. I watched Youtube videos of what fuse locations to use. When I did the initial install the camera turned on but did not go into park mode when I shut the car off. I ended up calling ROVE for help. I was very impressed with their help. I called and their message recommended I text so I did and they responded right away. We handled all my questions via texts, which worked well as I was able to organize my thoughts and include pictures. With their help, I ended up choosing a different fuse slot and now the camera works fine. On the install, I used the trim tool that was included with the kit, nice touch. I also used the little wire clips with sticky backs that were included with the wiring kit, another nice touch.

The dashcam works great. Just purchased this dashcam about a week ago and I'm still in a learning curve but the manual and quick start guide have enough easy to read and understand detail to where I can learn fast. The display, even on the lowest brightness level, is clear and easy to see. The controls are also easy to access and the voice is pretty clear as well. As for the suction cup, it's held so far so good, once I learned that the "wheel" that tightens the suction cup has to be locked, otherwise the dashcam will disconnect and fall from the windshield. Also, you need to tighten the knob that allows the dashcam to adjust up or downward, so that it won't vibrate, otherwise the video will show vibration when a dip or pothole is run over. Getting set up was a breeze and the 256 GB SD card, which is not a Rove card, has been working just fine. And the fact that it takes a universal USB-C cable, means it is easy to get another cable if the current one goes bad. While it does recommend using a Rove cable and SD card, I find that you don't need to, so long as you use a reputable brand, such as SanDisk or Western Digital for the card and a name brand cable. When it powers up, it will ask how you want to use the camera so you have to choose "Use the camera as normal", so to speak, in order for it to start recording. You can also choose, "Use as flash drive", or "Use as webcam", which adds to it's versatility. Some may find this annoying. I had to get used to it as my previous dashcam started recording immediately upon startup. But I think I'm starting to like this better. As for the app, it is vastly superior to the app for my previous dashcam, which was not a Rove. The Rove app does connect and you can have some functionality, however, you do need to connect the dashcam to the internet via a computer/USB in order to connect with your phone the first time, but the instructions in the manual are clear and it's easy to do. After that, the dashcam will connect with your phone when it powers on. I still have to learn more about how the app works, but it does. One thing I noticed is that it appears that you cannot access videos from your phone to download them with the app unless the dashcam is powered on and connected to your phone via WiFi. I could turn out to be wrong on this as I still am in the earning stages. But overall, it's a great dashcam and the app does work.

Here’s the bottom line: Don’t waste your time evaluating all of the alternatives. The best reasonably-priced CarCam that I found, after an early hint from Car & Driver, is unquestionably the Rove R2-4K Pro, released to the market this year. It’s simply an amazing little package made here in the US. You’ll love it. The device arrived in short order, nicely boxed, with all of the cables, mounts, etc., intact. I bought the camera plus a Rove 256GB microSD card (although a 128GB one would have sufficed) and the circular polarizing filter, which both protects the camera lens and easily allows you to eliminate annoying reflections off the top of your vehicle’s dashboard. I recommend it. I installed the camera in a late-model Subaru Outback Touring XT using the suction mount, to the right of the mirror. See the photos. This is the safest position since the driver normally sees only the bottom of the device, not the screen. Using the shorter USB-C to USB-A cable supplied, the camera plugs into the Outback’s Infotainment system at the bottom of the car’s large touch screen. Alternatively, it could be plugged into the Rove power head in the glove box. One hanging cable is less of an issue than trying to squish 12 feet of cable into crevices. The user manual supplied with the camera and available as a PDF is extraordinary – complete, proper Engish, pictures, hints, etc. It’s far better than the documentation I’ve received when spending many, many thousands of dollars for top-end equipment from Dell, Canon, Logitech, Samsung, and Sony. Thanks to Rove for an investment that makes the CarCam a breeze to initialize, install, and effectively use. For me, the camera has all of the features that I need. Control manipulation is good. No touchscreen, thankfully. The five buttons work perfectly for navigation. Its optics are very good, and the 4K images viewed on a large high-resolution monitor are excellent. Setting up the camera is a breeze and can be done outside the vehicle by plugging it into any USB-A power head. The camera will help you. Mounting and adjusting it is simple; use the suction cup. The camera is easily removed from the mount so that you can secure it or bring it inside to dump videos. To do that is easy, just use any USB-C to USB-A (or C) cable to plug into a computer, like my Dell XPS Windows 11 machine. When you do this, the computer’s file management system simply treats the camera as a normal external storage device, allowing you to copy, cut, and paste videos as you wish. I could go on, but suffice it to say that I’m happy to see an American company produce such a fine gadget, even though a CarCam is new for me and I’ve not yet explored all of its capabilities, like WiFi. Good job, Rove. Readers, stop looking around at all the marketing fluff and just order one. It’s a really good deal. Rove has just released its new firmware. 😃 I currently have 4 of these dash cams In multiple vehicles. The quality convenience and ease of use is ideal for me along with the affordable price !! With today’s insurance scams, hit-and-run drivers and the people who run away on foot after wrecking their cars into you. You’re not only need a dash cam for your insurance company but to also help with criminal charges for some of these people that truly do belong in jail. Because you never know how bad your next accident can end up. In the best part about the dash cam is it never lies and it remembers things as it happens you don’t have to remember the colors you don’t have to remember what the person looked like or what the license plate was if you have a dash cam all that stress is taken away and saved properly.

I bought 2 of these. One for a Mazda CX-9 and a F-150. I've only used for a short while and the video is very clear. Easy to install on both vehicle. Tools needed to install included in the box included a voltmeter to test power which was nice. The F-150 requires separate 3-lead Hardwire kit as fuses are 3 Prong. I actually like that I can connect it the fuse box and not use the Cig Light plug. I contacted the vendor directly via text and they sent the kit for free. They responded quickly to my texts for some questions as well. Excellent customer service! Their app provides ability to configure the Dashcam and review the videos. Connection from App to Dashcams was pretty easy. Overall, I'm very happy with the dashcam and would highly recommend it!

Rove R2-4K PRO worked well for about 2 years in hot Southwest desert conditions; good 4K video and features for the price (~$100+). Minor quirks included random blank screen (needed button press to wake) and occasional “Recording stopped/started” announcements. It eventually died: flickering screen with purple horizontal lines, no more recording. Tried power cycles, firmware update, factory reset; nothing fixed it. Support only repeated basics I’d already done; no real help for what seems like heat-related hardware failure. If 2 years of use is acceptable and you add the 2-year Asurion warranty (beyond the 1-year standard), it’s decent value. Don’t expect longer life in hot climates. 4 stars.

Very good quality, east to setup

I need to get my boyfriend one. I absolutely love mine. Super simple to use. If you want a loop locked, you hit the triangle button and it verbally says recording locked. I have the wifi set to automatically set up to my phone (vice versa) so that I can easily login to the app and review the footage. It's crystal clear. No issues. The buttons dont freeze or lag. The suction cup is okay. I find with cold temperatures, the suction cup will fall off. But that can always be fixed. Absolutely love it and recommend it to anyone. My previous dash cam was not reliable at all. The buttons would not work... I feel at ease.

This is my first dashcam. I had been looking at these Rove ones for a while and waiting for a big sale before buying it. I got the pro edition today and wow!! I knew it would be good, but it’s really is good. Comes in lovely packaging, the user interface is really slick and well thought out. You can connect to it all from your phone and manage all the videos and settings and everything. The whole thing is really slick and well thought out. Not like a lot of the garbage these days where you get a half decent product and then some terrible interface to manage it and some crusty old app that doesn’t work. And the video. Oh boy. I just took it out for a spin at nighttime and it is crystal clear. I mean REALLY good. And, I’ve only got it set to 2k rather than 4K. At this point I don’t see why I need 4K (haha). I decided to fork out and pay for the Rove brand memory card too. I’ve never (ever) bought a premium card for any device before but the manufacturer really seemed adamant that it’s worth the extra few bucks. I’m really happy. This is a great product and really well made. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a dashcam.
