Salomon Men’s Quest Element Gore-Tex, Waterproof Neutral Leather Hiking Boots

These boots are worth every penny. The ankle support is perfect and adjustable, the waterproofing works well even with the bottom half of the boot submerged. They have held up extermely with the first 50 or so miles I have put on them in the Wind River range of Wyoming. Fit is true to size, with the foot held securely in the boot, and the boot holding securely on even riverbeds. Would recommend without reservation! Well done Salomon!

This is the seventh pair of Solomon boots I have purchased. They’ve always remained waterproof. I just retired the pair I bought in 2024, I’m currently switching between the pair I bought last year and earlier this year. The bottom sole of the boot wears out before the top. Very good quality boot. Very good fit. To “unlock“ the laces from the ankle high lace-lock you just have to pull up as you are untying them. that will free it without feeling like you have to shred your lace just to get it undone. I bought this new pair for my trip to Iceland.

Best hiking boots I've ever bought, super comfortable, just starting to show some age after a few years of daily of daily use still water proof and still have great traction while being relatively light weight I'll definitely be getting salomons again

They fit true to size, and seem durable. I haven't had a chance to put them through the ringer yet but have done lots of standing for hours in them and some walking. I have flat feet and they didn't hurt *too* bad after. Tread and grip seem to be pretty decent on uneven and loose terrain. The ankle support style they have going is odd, they grip your ankles pretty firmly. I'm assuming over time it kind of stretches or loosens, but for now it is a bit uncomfortable. Breathability seems ok. I'm in Arizona but got these just as the triple digit weather ended, but I haven't felt like my feet were swimming. However the goretex is obvious as my feet were noticeably warm. Tldr, grippy, kinda warm, ankle support is incredibly smug, objectively breathable, also kind of funny color combo

All I wear anymore are Salomon's, whether it's for work, training, or relaxing. I live in pretty mountainous terrain, and I put these through the ringer on a daily basis, but the last two pairs barely made it 10 months. I can't complain too much, because I haven't found anything else that holds up as well, and this lightweight. I preferred the 4D, but this element is still a damn good shoe.

Water proofing is amazing! Comfort is fantastic! They look great and feel great. They won't however, stop a hatchet. I cut my foot open while cutting wood while camping and while these didn't stop the hatchet they were thick and strong enough to keep me from having surgery. Even the doctor was impressed!

I've been wearing Salomon boots for several years. But I don't like these boots for multiple reasons. First off. They leak.....which sucks when your walking in central Africa, and feet in your boots really really sucks..... There is a strange plastic cup for the heal, that goes over your ankle. When Im going down something steep, the plastic jambs into the side of my ankle, which doesn't hurt......for the first 30 times, then it starts to really hurt. The 90° lace holders, which transition between the top of your foot, and going up your ankle. Are legitimately a pain to get the kaces out of. It's ripping the laces up, and only a matter of time before they snap. You know what else is hard to get, in a really rural area of central Africa...... Yup.... Boot laces...... Ha inf these boots for two months, I shouldn't have the chunks ripped out of the soles like I do.... They just aren't very durable. My other Salomon boots just keep kicking, but these...... I dunno..... Theyre just failing for me in multiple ways. I gotta say, the stitching is holding well, and there's no obvious peeling of the soles from the boot. It the fact that BOTH boots are letting water in. Is really disappointing. I was just scooping some water out of a stream as well, was only in the water for a few moments. With it being both boots. It's less of an accident in my opinion, and more of a construction failure.

These are well built, durable and comfortable.

the shoes need break-in time and also the traction is overall good but not as good as any Vibram sole.

These boots felt comfortable right out of the box, I hike with my dog in the forest almost every morning in Northern Ontario and they have held up great, no seam splitting or rubber delaminating. Great tread, ankle support and so far are water resistant (2 months old) There is a trick when unlacing them; the middle metal guide holds the laces as tight as you want but won’t let go, you have to pull them down to stretch it and then they come out perfectly. I have bought a lot of hiking boots in my 65 years these are about the best.

I used these boots for more than 18 hrs continuously. I used them while I climbed almost an elevation of 2500 ft and down. I also went through a reentrant and water. All this and I did not feel anything. Boots are totally waterproof, keeps feet warm and fits nicely.

Super Wanderstiefel mit gutem Halt und griffiger Sohle. Ich habe mir diese Stiefel rund 6 Monate vor meiner geplanten Alpenüberquerung gekauft und selbstverständlich auch eingelaufen. Anfangs hatte ich dicke Blasen an den Fersen, lag aber daran, dass ich den Tiefzughaken nicht fest genug geschnürt hatte und dadurch der Fersenschlupf Reibung verursacht hat, die zu Blasen geführt hat. Nachdem die Schuhe "richtig" geschnürt waren, gab es keinerlei Probleme mehr. Quer durch die Alpen auf der klassischen E5-Route von Hütte zu Hütte mit schwerem Rucksack haben mich diese Schuhe einfach nur gut getragen. Sie sind wasserdicht, wir hatten unterwegs auch starken Regen, doch die Füße blieben trocken. Ebenfalls waren die Stiefel über Nacht wieder komplett getrocknet, das ist wichtig, um nicht mit klammen Stiefeln am nächsten Tag starten zu müssen. Geröll, verblockte Wege und kleinere vereiste Stellen meistern die Sohlen sehr gut. Ich hatte nie das Gefühl, kaum Gripp unter den Füßen zu haben. Empfehlenswert ist aus meiner Sicht eine Nummer größer zu nehmen, damit man auch mit dicken Wandersocken (ich nutze die dickeren und doppellagigen Wright-Socks "Adventure") genug Platz hat. Wer wie ich einen breiteren Vorfuß hat, wird mit den Stiefeln bestimmt zufrieden sein, denn die Zehenbox ist groß genug dafür. Ein Tipp: Lauft solche Stiefel immer gut ein (mind. 50, besser 100 km) und schaut euch Videos zur richtigen Schnürung des Tiefzughakens bzw. der Stiefel an, dann machen sie einem auch Freude, wenn es darauf ankommt.
