Soft light.
I ordered the lower watt bulb and its exactly what I wanted, not a harsh light. It was also cheaper than the big box hardware store.

Guess I was thinking Brighter
These are somewhat dimmer than the bulbs I had before. But those were probably 60 watt equivalent and really these, at 40 watts, are fine. Nice amber light that looks good around my front door. All four of the six I chose worked. And good start. I'll let you know their longevity in a few years.

Pretty, but very yellow
These are much warmer than your usual "warm light"; it's a very soft light but very yellow.

Soft Antique-Style Glow
These bulbs have a yellow film/color on the glass that causes a soft, old-timey glow. Much more relaxing and romantic than soft white LEDs. The bulbs have an old fashioned look as well.

Exactly What I Wanted
These are great! We've switched out all of the bulbs in our living room to these to give a softer light and we couldn't be happier with the way that it looks!
