Only sand
Essentially worthless if not using in sand.

Do not suggest buying
I don't like leaving bad reviews but this product it's something I would not again buy or recommend after using. It's well constructed but hard to use. Getting it into the sand is not easy and I'm a strong guy. My wife and kids definitely could not use this if I was not there. One star for usability, the second is bc it is well made.

Faulty product
The quality of this sand anchor is terrible. Bought it as a father's day gift and it broke after only four uses. The weld where the two pieces screw together was insufficient and it just broke. It is impossible to contact the selling via Amazon. A total waste of money. Stay away from this product.

Fits the bill for smaller boats, but with one major flaw
This is a nice quality anchor for its intended purpose: holding a small craft to a sandy beach. Obviously, for any non-powered vessel it would be just fine. Most people with a powered vessel will be beaching the boat and use this as an added 'hold' so that the boat does not work itself off the shoreline. If you have a larger boat, and/or are trying to hold in a current, this is not for you.I have a 13' Whaler, which I beached one day on the side of a river to hang out with friends. I thought I had it aground hard enough to hold, but when an air boat went by, it dislodged my boat, which went floating into the river. When we brought it back, one of the guys there pulled out a similar anchor to this to tie my boat down (no trees near at all), and I decided, I needed to get one of those! The material and finish are first rate. The carrying case is quite nice. I don't really have any complaints with the handle, but I guess I'm not trying to get into ground that is all that hard. My major complaint is the way you have to connect the 2 main pieces together. They give you one small screw, and an allen wrench. The 2 pieces fit together with precision, but then you are forced to rely on something that you will ultimately lose, just a matter of time. Some sort of quick release button, or SOMETHING else, would have made this so much better. I already know I need to get a thumbscrew bolt for this, and probably something with a slot in the head which I can connect to a key floaty. While one solution would be just to leave this assembled, I would think for the most part if your boat is big enough to hide this somewhere out of the way, then your boat is too big to use this for an anchor.5/20/23 Update: I bought a small pack of thumbscrews on Ebay, and it is a much better solution.

Worked well is sand/mud
I wanted to give this product more of a workout, but issues with my boat this year meant I only tried it out twice in freshwater. But, it did a good job anchoring my large PWC against mild river current and wind to a sand/mud beach riverbank. No noticeable wear either. I should be able to give it a real tough test next year in sand and saltwater when we head to the beach and if there any issues update this review but so far five stars.

Very classy and practical to use for small boats/kayaks
The thing I didn't like about this anchor is the larger boats being shown in the pictures. However, from the listing description, you clearly see that this is for much smaller boats, and (as in my case) for lightweight kayaks. What I really like about it that, you can just throw in the small bag that it comes with inside your kayak, and take it out on the beach when you need to rest for a while and not worry about dragging your boat all the way inland. The setup and usage of the sand anchor is quite straightforward. Having said that, putting it in the sand and making sure it's deep enough to stay there does take a bit of effort. Luckily, you only need to do that once, and remove it when you're ready to leave. You also get a bit of rope and a floater that you can use to tie down your boat.Overall, I think this anchor is delivering what it promises, and is very practical to take with you when kayaking. I don't think it will be as useful for larger boats (like the pontoon in the pictures), but it should also work for other 1-2 person boats. Recommended...

Two Piece and Not so Stainless
I like that it breaks down to be smaller in my Kayak, but the RUST I saw when I opened it sent up a Red Flag for me since I Kayak in Salt Water. I've never had 316 Stainless rust on me, but 304 stainless has been hit and miss in my experience. This might be pretty good for Fresh Water use, but if this came Rusting, already it most likely will not last long in any environment without you having to do some work on it.The lose handle design is fine so long as you keep even turning pressure on it while getting it set into the ground. Letting the Auger pull it down instead of downwards pressure on the handle. If it becomes an issue of popping off you can just jam a couple of small Branch into it to keep it secure until done. The Allen Key Screw is another issue, they would have been better off using a Thumb Flange Head screw for connecting the two shafts together. I'm most likely going to buy one to replace the screw that came with this.Overall, I will use it and see how long it lasts, but at this price I cannot say that I fully recommend it.
