Q: What's difference between model 60A (from Japan) vs 60H (US version)?

I don’t have an answer for you, I wasn’t aware there was a different version. It makes an incredible cup of coffee though. I’ve even used Folgers beans instead of my fancy ones. Incredible cup every time.

Q: How many ounces is it for small, medium, and large?

Small makes 4 ounces. Medium makes 8 ounces. Large makes 12 ounces. Best tasting brewed coffee. Drink and enjoy.

Q: Does the carafe have a specific function in the brewing? In other words, could I put a suitable mug / jar under it and it would catch the coffee?

The lid of the carafe opens the valve on the bottom of the filter. So without the carafe in place the coffee won’t flow from the filter. I’d imagine one could come up with a workaround to keep the filter valve open. But the carafe is actually very satisfying to use, even though it’s one more thing to clean.

Q: Is this made in Japan ?

If I remember correctly, it should be made in China, but designed in Japan.
