In construction they make you wear hard hats even when it doesn't make sense. I was told to wear them even in crawl spaces and attics. That's why I don't respect OSHA. Hardhats in small spaces cause more injuries than they prevent. And this is coming from a guy who hit him his head on a sprinkler pipe bad enough to need stitches. But this bump cap is perfect for the job. Slip it in a ball cap and it provides the protection you need at minimum lose of comfort. I worked insulation for 9 years as this is the best thing for tight spaces where hitting your head is as easy as moving your toes. It works great if you have a habit of bumping into low ceilings and beams. Great for bumps to the head. We have a small trailer with a low ceiling and every time we go in it or go to get out of it we pump our head. This works great for me and my husbands baseball cap. As long as we can remember to put it on when working in the utility trailer. It's very lightweight however it does add additional weight to the cap so it tends to want to fall off when bending over. you might have to tighten it up. Fits all my caps great.

I nearly knocked myself out when pulling a vine down from a tree. Dumb of me, yes, but I was standing directly under the branch with the vine wrapped around it. The branch was dead and snapped off and fell maybe 10ft right onto my head. I had a baseball hat on, but even so I had a nice cut and golf ball size bump. First lesson is to never be under the branch when yanking something off of it…check! Second is to wear better protection when doing any work like this in my yard. Now I wear this under my baseball hat. It’s practically invisible to others and it’s reasonably comfortable, even for long periods wearing it. I’m sure I would still have had my bell rung from the branch; but I seriously doubt I would have had the cut or the golf ball lump.Don’t confuse this with a true construction hard hat, but if you just want a little extra protection when in the yard or maybe on a hike thru a wooded area, this is the perfect addition for a baseball hat.

This product fit my baseball cap well and turned it into a decent cap bump-cap. It is comfortable to wear. It doesn't seem to trap a lot of heat causing excessive sweating. I would recommend this product for a bump protection type of situation but do not recommend it as a substitute for a hardhat as it is not designed to do that job.
