Good quality. Needs oil/silicone/rust prevention.
This holder looks great on my fence and holds the umbrella tightly. I only wish they used black bolts instead of chrome bolts I upgraded and bought my own. Also, I’ve had it for a month and it’s showing signs of rust in some places so I’ll have to spray that with something

Solid build that will be convenient IF installed properly.
The overall construction of unit is very good and solid. In the headline I referenced convenient if installed properly. The larger the umbrella you choose to hold with this, the more concern you must use in how you mount it. (Yes, logical but could easily be overlooked in particular with the demonstration photos used on the product page.) If you are using the method of "clamping" it on a rail as demonstrated, be sure that rail is sufficiently fastened top and bottom to handle the torque applied if the umbrella is caught in a stiff wind. I chose to mount it on a 4x4 rail - the clamping screws are only 3" long, however using 3" stainless steel screws with appropriate pilot hole drilled will be very sturdy as the 4x4 is further fastened at it's base with lag bolts. The welds on the unit are clean and solid, not likely to be a weak point unless years of wear and rust weakens them or the area around them. The screws to fasten the umbrella in place are typical of most umbrella holders- if you desire the most clamping power, consider using a machine bolt, the unit should hold-up to enough force to not let go under any circumstances. Finally the finish - a quality job of black paint that may need touch-up after a year or two, a simple wire brush to remove any rust or corrosion and a rust preventative flat or semi-gloss black paint and it will be as good as new. As I installed this on a new deck with treated wood, my expectation is with minor maintenance this should serve for ten or more years- it could last nearly indefinitely if well-maintained.I will admit I considered a slight deduction wishing the mounting holes in the base were a little larger- this is the hotrod car builder in me wanting everything to be heavy-duty. I understand their logic in using the size they have, but for those that might want to use larger screws or even bolts to anchor, there is sufficient room to drill larger holes. While I received this free as a Vine reviewer, nobody "buys" a 5-star review. I will call-out inferior products as I am also a consumer and wish to be able to trust the reviews from other Vine reviewers and consumers alike.

Strong and nice finish.
I really like this patio umbrella holder. It's made with care with a nice paint job. It arrived with no scratches. It's easy to see how to mount it and you have a couple of choices of how to mount it. I had a little trouble because I mounted it on an uneven surface, but it's solid. The wood I screwed it to is pretty hard and I couldn't get the screws that came with it all the way in without stripping them. I used some I had that take a torx drive and they went right in.It was windy today and the umbrella almost took off like a kite. You really need to use the tightening knobs to keep the umbrella pole in the holder and you probably need to close your umbrella if it's windy.

Very sturdy and a great solution for a small patio.
A great solution to a patio space. We have a smaller balcony patio that needs an umbrella. I have tried bungie cords but that does not hold the umbrella on a windy day. This is A FABULOUS solution. It saves space and is a very sturdy umbrella holder. It is heavy metal and powder coated to last a long time. It comes with several lengths of screws to adjust to the size of the rail you are attaching it. It also comes with metal plates that help keep the attachment strong and non damaging to the rails. Adjustable to a wide range of umbrella pole widths. This is just a great idea to secure an umbrella to any fence or railing application where you need shade, but don't have a table or room for a large base.

This holds my umbrella up on my fire escape
I like this thing, but the only thing is the screws are rusted. So the Screws are not waterproof.

Handy and useful.
This has been a lifesaver for our outdoor environment. It's really nice to be able to move a massive umbrella from a table to the porch without having to have the table on the actual porch.Set up was easy and quick, and it seems to do really well in all types of weather. We do use an oversized umbrella that's pretty heavy and we've had no issues with the bracket not being able to hold it upright.
