Great fan and whisper quiet
What a big improvement over the cheap fans of years past. Really quiet and does the job. This is our third bathroom install for these fans. Itโs always best to find a YouTube video as the directions are a bit confusing. This fan was made to fit in a 2 x 4 wall thus the oval exhaust hole. Instead of spending $20 for the premade adapters which may not fit, buy a galvanized 4โ x 3โ reducer and gently oval the 4โ side with your hands. Use tape for galvanized or aluminum to secure it to the neck on the fan.

Super Quiet & an Upgrade for Our Bathroom
The Panasonic WhisperValue Exhaust Fan FV-0510VS1 is incredibly quietโyou barely notice itโs running. It moves air well and feels like a big step up in quality compared to typical fans. It really helped elevate the overall feel of our bathroom remodel. Solid, reliable, and absolutely worth it.

Work great and are smooth and quiet.
Have two, one in each bathroom. Work great, adjustable fan speed and not noisy. Cover removes easily for cleaning as I vacuum the cover and every few months same for dust from the fan, our home has a lot so just to keep it well maintained.

Annoying rattling sound, no available parts to couple to oval exhaust
This seems like a very good fan, being powerful and easy to install. It would be very quiet except that there's an annoying rattling sound as if a thin piece of plastic is somehow flapping around somewhere inside in the unit. It's not coming from the ductwork but somewhere inside the sealed fan assembly. I don't know if all units are like this or if I got a lemon, but I'm too lazy to uninstall it and send it back for an exchange. However, it might just annoy me enough over time to prompt me to take it apart. The other weird thing is that it's impossible to find matching ductwork (elbow or converter) for the oval-shaped exhaust duct. You would think this would be a fairly common product. I found a plastic one at Lowe's (also on Amazon), but the oval shaped is too different to fit. In the end, I had to bend some aluminum flex duct to couple it to standard 4 inch round ducting.

Easy install. Quiet. Worth it.
Easy install, runs very quietly, does a great job sucking out the moisture out of the room from showers. Wish it was a little noisier to help conceal โbathroom noisesโ but better than being too noisy I suppose!

The Cadillac of Bath Fans
These Panasonic fans are the real deal. Quiet. Optional fan speed choices. Quality, robust construction. Panasonic fans can be spendyโฆ but I wouldnโt use anything else in an upscale home.

Works very well for this price range
Easy to install. DC motor. 3 speeds selectable: 50 cfm silent, 80 cfm semi-silent, 100 cfm noticeable sound of whooshing air but very localized to fan area ( motor is silent, whooshing air makes noise). Yes as per instructions it takes a few (5) seconds for fan to turn on after flipping switch. We run it to vent basement at 100cfm and it even pulls air from first floor down our staircase. In conjunction with a dehumidifier and this fan, our basement is more comfortable as the dehumidifier pulls cool damp air from floor level and blows warm air (from heat-exchanger and fan motor) upwards and this exhaust fan takes it outside. We have replaced all builder installed fans with similar DC motor ones within this price range. Would buy this for bath fan replace so it can be run at full speed to remove heat in house during summer and at a low speed in winter. CON: exhaust pipe is oval and adapter not available in Canada: work around: use 4 inch aluminium elbow: tape seams of elbow with metal tape (or else joints will come apart) and then gently squeeze one end until it matches oval shape, insert and tape together to fan.

Great retrofit upgrade
The 70 sq.ft. bathroom in our house had a 70 CFM Broan installed which was quite loud, but more worrying was the amount of moisture on the ceiling and running down the walls after a shower. Bought this one based on the reviews and the selectable CFMโs. It installed fairly easy since it all comes apart, just had to cut a bigger hole attach the duct and wiring, snap it back together and screw it to the joist with some extra wood support I installed for rigidity. I set it at 80 CFM and its much quieter than the previous fan which was 4 sones. More importantly there is no more moisture collecting on the ceiling and walls!

Excellent for wall mounting in walls <4" deep, also love the variable CFM
Due to the nature of my ceilings in my bathroom, a ceiling mounted vent fan was not an option. So I planned on wall mounting a ceiling fan but couldn't find anything that would fit in a 4" wall cavity. My friend who owns a contracting company told me about this fan and how it has a smaller profile. I have to say it fit perfectly with no hassle at all. The availability to select 50, 80, or 100 CFMs is a great feature given that there aren't many low profile vent fans out there. The noise levels at 50 and 80 are very quiet. However, at 100 as you can imagine it gets a little louder. My wife and I actually decided to set it to 100 CFM because 50 and 80 were too quiet. The noise of the fan offers some... "privacy" when using the bathroom. Thankfully, to change the CFM is extremely easy, simply remove the cover and flick a switch. The general install was straightforward, particularly if you are handy. A few screws secure it to the stud, wiring is as basic as it gets, and the cover leaves lots of room for error when drywalling around it. My only slight concern would be the shape of the duct. I used zip-ties along with aluminum duct tape as you have to bend the ducting to fit the low profile oval shape. I understand that this feature must exist to fit the 4" space, so I can't complain too much. Overall, if you require a vent fan that can be used in tight spaces, this is a great option.
