I got one identical to this one around 4 years ago and it still works fine. I use it as a flat lap as well. It is a great machine for beginners who aren’t quite sure they want to commit to spending for a cabbing machine. It helped me progress along my lapidary journey and I still have it in use to this day. I did replace the power switch with a waterproof push button after a couple years. Other than that it’s all original and still fun to play with.

This is a great machine for beginners to get you into the fun. It works well, but only has one speed setting, and the manipulator does not have any locking mechanism to keep an angle. These are simple things to fix, and I think would be worth an increase in price for the unit if done well.It’s made pretty solid, heavy, but is a great size and can be easily moved around with a bit of planning and strength.Overall I give it 4 stars for the value but a decrease for missing simple things like speed settings and a lock and more precise angle measurement.

Two machines in a row with dead motors

I bought this to trim rocks before I tumble them. I may actually get into fastening one of these days but for now this machine does a great job of trimming bad spots off of rocks before I move them to the next stage in tumbling. It has saved me a lot of time having to depend on the grit to take gouges out of rocks. I bought a large water jug laying on its side to apply water and it works great.
