Apparently a set of mole grips modified to enable snap fasteners to be attached. Brilliant idea as using a hammer sometimes damages the fasteners. It's easy to use and does a very good job, I love it and am glad to add it to my tool kit for maintenance of my camper curtains etc. The gloves are a welcome addition for my wife to use the tool. All in all a very good 'crimper' well built and does an excellent job.

This is a great product that makes fitting snap studs so quick and easy.Ive mainly used this in my camper van to fix curtains to the vehicle, so they're easy to put up and take down without having to fit curtain rails.I can thoroughly recommend this product 5*

I had a broken stud on an expensive bag (5.11 Tactical) so I needed something study to replace it.I bought some high quality branded 15mm studs that came with a punch and anvils. Over 40 minutes later I've got one part seated well the other half joined but is spinning (bad for the fabric over time) and I can see the the punch is starting to get worse for wear on the part I'm hitting with the mallet (and I'm making no noticeable progress).I got these pliers and some studs (not used the studs, they look OK but I'm clearly a n00b) and had the job done in seconds, it took me longer to open the Amazon package than fit the anvils and do the job. If you are doing something heavy duty these are great and look like the will stand the test of time.As others may have noted they are modified self locking pliers, where you may have to manually adjust the locking mechanism to get the right depth if you have heavy/light fabric but I can't complain and am happy with the results,I'm not a regular user/need for these pliers and they have already been relegated to the special part of my garage for rarely used tools. The price varied significantly since I bought them, and other vendors *appear* to be selling the same pliers for less. That and the limited number of anvils so it's only suitable for 15mm is the only reason I've dropped a star, if you regularly install 15mm studs this is a great time saving tool that does a fantastic the job.

Very heavy, for arthritic hands. directions lacking information.I wanted it for snap fasteners as I make purses and handbags, but there is not enough depth to add popper to purse body. so had to return.

Why did you choose this product over others?:I have trousers with small poppers on the waistband and I wanted a larger stud fastening as the originals kept popping open.However the male part of these studs is not held any more firmly by these than the studs which they've replaced!This seems to be a waste of £30.00 as there is no more spring retention in these studs. Ergo this is not an improvement so why buy it?The applicator seems fine but the studs are no good.

Well made tool does the job perfectly.
