Described by TIME Magazine as "gloomy and sexual yet lively and introspective", Garbage's second studio album Version 2.0, released in 1998, was heralded as a bold progression from their self-titled debut album and went on to sell over four million copies worldwide, matching the success of it's predecessor. Formed in 1993 comprising of members Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, Butch Vig and Shirley Manson, Garbage have gone onto sell over 17 million albums worldwide over a 28 year career. Review: I Think I Missed This Album - Initially, I would have gotten this album shortly after it came out, however, I lost it and many of my other CDs in a spree of recklessness when I was younger. Over the last few years I have been trying to make restitution for this to some of the bands I loved in my youth and myself which is why I jumped on the opportunity to pick up a new copy of this album when it presented itself. Something that really sticks out on this album by comparison to the copy I would have gotten the first time around is that it also came with a whole CD of B-side tracks. Some of these tracks are legitimately good like “Deadwood” and “Soldier Through This” which makes me wonder how they never made it onto a studio album. As a fan, I was glad to be able to get access to this material so I guess it worked out for the best that I lost my initial copy as had I still had it I probably would not have been compelled to pick it up again. As with some other albums that I have, I elected to remaster Version 2.0 into high quality, lossless, 192 kbps, .wma files using an LG UHD BD writer on my PC. Whether or not this was necessary I don’t know but I sort of considered it a way that I could further my amends towards the band as well as learn from the errors of my old ways (e.g., not leave my CDs in my vehicle). Although, there are .mp3 files available at a higher kbps for sale elsewhere it is my opinion that the .wma file format is superior even at lower bit rates since they are lossless files. I know I can definitely hear the difference between a lossless and lossy file (something like .mp3) in my current setup but there is also a chance that my setup is more conducive to files in .wma format than .mp3 which means the same experience may not be universal. That being said, I could not have remastered this album had I not been able to come across a physical copy of it in CD format. This is part of the reason that I continue to advocate for music media stored on physical formats. Having access to liner notes and artwork are also added benefits that physical media continues to have over digital media. Yes, I find it somewhat disheartening when the only way that I can get access to music from my favorite artists is through a digital format as has been the case with some of the EPs I have picked up (or am considering picking up) as of late. On a different note, the CD case for this album showed up slightly damaged. Luckily, it did not affect the performance of the CDs but this album did not show up from delivery in mint condition. I had the same experience with a few other CDs that I ordered through desertcart recently and would suggest that maybe desertcart use some better shippers for items such as this since the jewel cases on CDs is pretty fragile in the first place making it prone to cracking. Of course, there is a chance that the damage didn’t take place in the desertcart operation and could have happened elsewhere. Overall, I am quite glad to have this album back in my music library. Garbage continues to bring diversity to my music collection that I feel it lacks since I tend to gravitate more towards punk rock and heavy metal in my music preferences. This album has plenty of excellent singles including “Push It” and “I Think I’m Paranoid” which I feel are excellent songs and helped launch the band’s career to where they are at today. Thanks for the album and sorry for any previous harms that may have been done as a result of losing my first copy of it. Review: Reliable seller - Household staple CD…reliable seller

A Beautiful Pressing of a Great Old Record
I bought this on CD in 1998 or so, and it always reminds me of my final year of college. I saw them on tour in Columbus, OH, and I have great memories of the show and the night afterward. But a year or two later, this CD fell out of rotation and I haven't heard it a whole lot since. So, when I ran across this album on orange vinyl, I had to buy it. My nostalgia regarding the music means that I can't give you any sort of reliable review of the music (I still prefer their first album, but enjoy this too), but the audio quality on this pressing is excellent. Over the past few years, I've run across a lot of albums that were originally recorded digitally that didn't fare well in the transfer to analog, with poor mastering and noisy pressings... but this isn't one of them. I couldn't be happier with the full, rich tones and the clean reproduction. Well done.

Outstanding!!
This is the 2nd album from this cool group and is it ever outstanding! All of these songs are must haves for any fan of rock or alternative rock music! The only 2 songs that are partially weak on here are "Dumb" and "Sleep Together" - these are still good, but not quite as good as the others. "When I Grow Up" has one of the best hooks I've ever heard, this song will really get stuck in your head and make you feel great! Other of my favorites are "Special", "Temptation Waits", and "I think I'm Paranoid". "The Trick Is To Keep Breathing" is a little slower but has great structure and a very catchy bass-line! "You Look So Fine" is the same type of song musically - the piano in that one reminds me of the old Halloween movies with Donald Pleasance! Shirley Manson's voice is downright provocative and stimulating on "Hammering In My Head" and "Push It" - two more top notch songs from a top-notch album! I definitely recommend this to any lover of music!

Garbage Brings The Goods
Career highlight "Version 2.0" finally gets the deluxe edition it deserved 20 years ago. In its time, "Version 2.0" was an anomaly to all formats, critics and success for a rock back. Garbage had been accused of formulaic, slickly produced pop by skeptics and lauded by fans as a breath of fresh air in the aftermath of grunge. They seemed to be a band that were both loved and loathed with equal measure. History has been extremely kind to "Version 2.0" as it sounds as fresh, masterful and urgent as it did upon release. The album soundtracked the lives of not only myself but, also many, many others of my generation. I was 18 at the time of it's release and clung to this album as much as I had with Hole's "Live Through This" and Tori Amos' "Boys For Pele". Shirley Manson's voice was a balm and a weapon within the same structure, her brilliant and underrated lyricism, a slashing blade and bandaid grounding each song within the confines of your headphones and conversely stretching out across the many arenas they would take their tours on. These contradictions along with many others are what make Garbage such a band that you cannot take your ears away from. The duality of Garbage is what makes them great. Accompanying this edition of "Version 2.0" is a disc of B-sides that were largely unavailable for US fans as the domestic CD single was gasping for it's last breath in 1998. Collected here for the first time, the B-sides alone are worth the price of this edition. "Soldier Through This", "Afterglow", and "Deadwood" are not only highlights of this collection but to Garbage's catalog as a whole. Garbage had been a music collector's dream and they never failed to make the high cost of imported singles worth it with strong material to back up the single being represented. The remastering for this package is extremely well done without the degradation of compression and simply increasing the volume. "You Look So Fine" and "The Trick Is The Keep Breathing", after all of this time, sound clearer, crisper and just as dazzling as they did the first time I heard them. "Special", "When I Grow Up" and "I Think I'm Paranoid" pulse and pound harder than ever. With such clarity and beauty, I can only hope that Garbage continue these deluxe editions for "beautiful.garbage" and especially for "Bleed Like Me". From one fan to another, this collection is a must.

I love Garbage!
I missed this record when it was originally released on the 20th anniversary, so I didn't get the cool orange vinyl or the extra discs with the B-Sides - that version is being scalped on eBay for upwards of $300 dollars now, which is ridiculous. So, I got this one, and am happy as a clam to have it on vinyl. What can I say? It's a great record, and Garbage will always be a personal favorite band of mine.

2.0 Rocks!
Garbage at their best in the 1990’s. One of those albums where all the songs are good so definitely buy the whole album. Strong lead vocalist in Shirley M. Love the techno and crunching guitars. This band is still creating new good material in 2021, and 2.0 is a wonderful mess of alternative rock that you play loud. Chose the CD as more and more I value the off the grid means to listen to music that you get with CD and vinyl. CD was in great condition when arrived.

(I think I'm paranoid. シャーリーさんの聞き取り易い発音も良かった) オムニバスCDに押し込んだのを懐かしく思い出しました。今も好きよ! 「Garbage? 名前通りでしょ」と云われた悔しさも思い出したぞ…。 あら、レヴューじゃなく青春の怨みになってしまった。終わります。

The Best Album of 1998
Recorded entirely on the Macintosh, 2.0 is a BRILLIANT PIECE OF ARTWORK that satisfies every time. From the opening track’s Temptation Waits insane fading drum roll out, it never yields, nor does it never fail to ALWAYS take me right back there - - AND LIKE AN ADDICT: ALWAYS WANTING MORE. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Meraviglioso
