Amazing
Ward D by Freida McFadden is a psychological thriller set in a locked psychiatric ward during a single night shift.Amy Brenner, a medical student, is assigned to an overnight shift at the psychiatric hospital’s high-security unit, Ward D. The facility houses some of the most dangerous and unstable patients, making the shift unsettling from the start. As the night progresses, strange and disturbing events begin to unfold.Patients seem to be acting oddly, noises echo through the halls, and Amy starts feeling like someone is watching her. With limited staff on duty and no easy way out, she becomes increasingly paranoid. When people start disappearing, Amy realizes she may be trapped in a nightmare far worse than she imagined. As secrets from her past start to surface, she must figure out what’s real, who she can trust, and how to survive the night in Ward D before it's too late.Freida McFadden is known for her gripping thrillers, and Ward D is no exception. The novel maintains a fast pace, making it a quick, suspenseful read. The confined setting of the psychiatric ward creates a claustrophobic, eerie atmosphere, heightening the tension throughout the book. The book keeps you on edge with its unpredictable twists and unsettling setting. The short chapters and constant action make it hard to put down. As with McFadden’s other novels, the story includes unexpected reveals that keep readers guessing. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with a creepy hospital setting, Ward D is an entertaining choice. It’s a fast, engaging read with plenty of suspense, though it may not be the most complex thriller out there. Fans of Freida McFadden’s other books will likely enjoy it, but those looking for deeply layered psychological narratives might find it a bit predictable.Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An addictive, fast paced, page turner from the Queen of suspense!
"The best lies stay close to the truth"Plot: Medical student Amy is in her 3rd year residency. As part of her training she must gain experience in every medical field. Including, the hospital's mental health unit known as Ward D. This is a shift she is dreading and as the night starts, she bumps into familiar faces she's rather avoid. As the clock ticks down on her 12 hour shift, it becomes apparent that something very unsettling is going on in Ward D. Staff and patients are going missing. Amy doesn't know what is real, what is a reflection of her own fear and imagination or who she can trust. One thing is very clear, the whole ward is in danger and Amy must do everything she can to survive the night.Having struggled with my own mental health for years, I took this book at face value for the work of fiction that it is. I have to say I really enjoyed it. The fast pace and short chapters made this a very addictive read that I couldn't put down. I've never said "one more chapter" so many times as I did with this book. I love Freida's writing style and find her books easy to read and really enjoyable.I would definitely recommend this book to suspense, thriller fans. However, if you would prefer a book that accurately represents mental health issues and avoids the stigma surrounding them, then this may not be the book for you.

First of many!!
I’ve always heard about Frieda McFadden and the books she writes but never actually sat and read one of her books. That was until two days ago and I picked up this gem of a book Ward D.I nerve knew which one to start with and the front cover caught my eye. I am so glad that this is the book I’ve started with of Frieda McFaddens. Her writing style is incredible and this is the fastest I’ve ever read a book.I as hooked with the story line from the beginning and as reading I felt like I was Amy this whole time!!! I had been trying to guess the twist the whole way through and had some which I thought was good ideas however I’d dint e dm come close to what the twist actually was! This will not by last book I’m reading by this amazing author I can’t wait to delve further into her books.Truly amazing 5⭐️ and more!!!!

The book has potential but the portrayal of patients ruined it for me
I love Freida McFadden and the title of this book sounded interesting to me as I generally like this kind of subject matter. I liked the way the story was structured; switching between the present day and the past had me hooked from the start. As usual, there were many plot twists I didn't expect - but I really disliked the way the story went and some of it sounded too unreal for me to stay immersed in the plot.(spoilers ahead)One thing that annoyed me a bit was the unrealistic details of the ward itself. For example, when the power cuts out, there's no backup power supply for crucial equipment, and there's no way to check in on patients in seclusion rooms? That is not allowed to happen in a hospital. I guess that's a justification for Will to investigate the ward, but that loses significance with the way the book ends.My main issue, however, is that although there seemed to be occassional attempts at talking more sensitively about mental illness, mostly we just see bipolar and schizophrenic patients equated to dangerous, untrustworthy criminals, with the protagonist concluding she will never admit to having a problem, because she is not "crazy". I find this conclusion terribly ironic: stories like this are part of the problem, a part of why it is still so hard for people to get the support they need.

4 stars!
I enjoyed this book and it was much better than the crash book i read before this one! I think it moved at a good speed and the characters all fit really well. The ending was good but i felt a bit of a let down after she left ward d!
