I'm just getting started out in metal detecting and I wanted a decent pinpointer but I didn't want to invest £100+ at the moment for a leading brand one. But equally I didn't want a cheap £15 one as it will just be unreliable, so this one seemed a logical choice.The device is a good weight and feels decent build quality. It has two settings- a general setting and an interference blocking setting. The interference blocking setting just seems to make it more 'pinpointy' i.e. when you're right next to the find. It has a screen with a signal scale so you can see how close you are to the find. Not really sure of the benefit to be honest as the general setting is accurate enough.My only critique would be that the device keeps registering 'one bar' of signal when it comes into direct contact with something I.e. if the top of the probe touches the dirt it will register one bar of signal even if there's no metal there. I checked and tested this as I was digging for a find and this was confusing me. Until I finally realised every time it touches the dirt directly it would always register one bar- even if theres nothing there. Its just annoying more than anything, but maybe it could just be a slight fault on my particular device.Also, the power button is used to manage the settings i.e. the light, vibrate, sound etc and it gets a bit confusing at times trying to go through them to find the one you need, or if you accidently press the power button. Again just a bit annoying, should just be a dedicated button for each thing. And perhaps a lock button.Overall I think its decent for the price but only for a beginner. I'll probably upgrade to a MineLab or Nokta once I become more experienced.

Only had a one 2 hour session with this pinpointer so far but quite impressed. It replaces a cheaper pinpointer and is a lot more sensitive. I've had no issues with interference with my detector (minelab vanquish).Only issue I can see so far is with the power switch being accidentally turned on as it stands proud from the body.Build quality is excellent for the price (£38 with discount token).It can detect foil but not tiny fingernail size pieces.Has buzz (vibrating) only, bleep only or buzz and bleep.If you want to upgrade from a cheap pinpointer without paying a fortune then the Otek is worth a look.

Having read up on a few other pinpointers I settled on this mid-priced one.I’ve been using now for a few weeks and here are the pros & cons:WaterproofGood battery lifeEasy to use.The holster easily fastens to the belt on my bag or trousers.Torch is a handy feature.Great at finding things when you dig out the hole.I’m not so impressed with the ease at which you can switch it on or off and keep accidentally doing this.It would be better if the battery was rechargeable but that’s a small gripe.In summary, it’s enough as a starter or introduction into metal detecting and overall is doing a great job of sniffing out those items in all the soil once I’ve dug up the target. No doubt it will serve me well and so far I’ve had it caked in mud and soil and simply just wash it off when I get home. A good purchase at a reasonable price.

The DR otek MT6 PRO is a great tool for metal detecting. Its a very quick and accurate pinpointer with interference cancelling. Comes with a sturdy lanyard and built in light. It has 3 indication modes and is waterproof. I would recommend this product👍
