Actually works, unlike competitors
I returned SO MANY AirPlay devices before finding this one, including returning two of the “top-rated” Car and Driver Intellidash units because neither had even remotely responsive screens. It is impossible to retrofit my particular make/model of Audi Q5 with a CarPlay-enabled head unit, so a standalone device like this was my only option for wireless CarPlay. It works wonderfully - music and Waze work flawlessly. The screen is responsive, it never fails to pair to my phone within 15 seconds of turning my vehicle on, and accessing music is even easier than on a phone thanks to its indexing and search feature. My vehicle lacks an aux input so I use the radio transmitter to get the device to play through my car’s speakers. The sound quality is fantastic and has never once dropped.I have only two gripes with this device:1. It will not show you your iMessages, it will only read them to you (I appreciate that this is likely a safety feature, but is extremely annoying if your hearing isn’t great); and2. The mounting options leave much to be desired. I’m already running a radar detector and dash cam, and did not want anything interfering with the radar detector or taking up even more space in my windshield. After much searching and trial and error, I found that the Bracketron PHV-202-BL Grip-iT GPS and Mobile Device Holder ($14 on Amazon) perfectly holds the device vent-mounted under my existing head unit with just a little bit of manipulation (you’ll have to cut the rubber/foam bumpers down or remove them entirely for a secure fit). Most of my driving is done at fairly high speeds on rough dirt roads, so it’s a testament to how securely the Brackerton holds this device if you need a vent-mounted option. It’s virtually impossible to find a third-party air vent mount for this device because of its 1” thickness (most seem to top out at 0.6”).Overall love this little device. It’s really been a game-changer for me.

Works great!
I have a 2014 Nissan Altima with Bluetooth for phone calls, but no CarPlay. I added this so I can get all of the features of CarPlay in my car. And it works great! If you have Bluetooth for your phone in car, make sure you plug your phone into the CarPly unit. Do not use Bluetooth connection for the CarPlay, because the car Bluetooth will interfere and the CarPlay will not work properly. Plugged into the unit, it works flawlessly. I also purchased the air vent magnetic disc to hold the unit, so I have nothing on my dash and it’s easy to store when not in use.

2nd rate CarPlay device—3.5/5 stars
Overall—— the unit can’t multitask, touch screen is mediocre but works, CarPlay with gmaps and answering calls is about the best experience you will get. ($110 coupon off at the time of this review). For a $200-ish CarPlay device, it’s fine. I use this as a stand alone device on CarPlay, meaning I do NOT connect this through aux cable or fm transmitter at all. Explained why below.Detailed Review/RatingsScreen display: 4/5- the resolution is great, images are crisp, but the colors are kinda washed/dull. Definitely not high quality, but it’s good enough that you won’t be bothered by it too much.Touchscreen: 3/5- feels like how smart phone screens were before the first iPhone- resistive feel even though it claims to be capacitive.Sound: 4/5- loud enough for the driver- the rest of the cabin will depend on size of car. In my 4 door sedan, it’s fine.CarPlay: 3/5- wireless CarPlay works as described- start your car and your phone auto connects to the device right away. If all you want is gmaps and answering calls through CarPlay- this thing is perfect for that and only that. When you try to multitask even the smallest of tasks, like playing any kind of music from your playlist (Apple Music, Amazon music, Google music, etc) while using maps—- it will freeze and crash 100% of the time. No joke. The processor on this thing is unable to multitask. Answering calls and maps together is it.Media playback: 4.7/5- USB drive or SD card, will read fast and play back almost all mp4s just fine. Mkv video files are hit and miss. But pretty much all standard music/audio files are supported. There’s free online converters you can use to get your media into the correct format. But when it works, the read is fast and the quality is excellent. How I use it:Mounted via magnets on my dash as a CarPlay device on maps and calls. If anyone has ever used gmaps extensively on any iphone, you know it gets hot- very hot. Using CarPlay solves this issue. I still use my car stereo for music/mp3s, and radio separate from this device, and it works well for me, very well. The max volume level on this device still allows for me to hear the directions on maps and calls just fine. No one complains about the call quality on the other side- besides the comment of “I can tell you’re on speaker or on a headset”. For the price I paid, this thing is worth it.

It's good, not great.
Overall the product does what it says it does. Performance has been ok, screen froze just one time. Speaker volume is adequate, however, the difference in call volume and nav volume is mind boggling. As far as I can tell there is no separate setting in unit's settings for different outputs between nav and call, yet even at top volume calls are barely audible at 30+ mph while nav is way too loud. Volume at level 35 (max is 40) nav is perfect but calls are inaudible unless car is at full stop, I just switch over to phone's speakers. Wish this thing had physical volume controls, trying to adjust the volume means exiting carplay, click on the speaker icon to adjust, then go back into carplay. oh, text readout volume is also less than nav at the same setting but some how slightly louder than call volume. Screen quality is fine, I don't watch any shows on the unit, for primarily nav. Wish they redesign the mount so the screen can be easily detached and moved between vehicles.

FM Transmitter is garbage
Unit isn't too bad, but i got this one because of the FM transmitter since I don't have an aux plug in my car, it is scratchy and unclear no matter what channel i tried.

FM transmitter not great
Paired easily with my Galaxy phone. Took a bit to figure out how to turn off the internal speaker to attempt to play it through my vehicle speakers. I had to turn my phone to airplane mode so the android auto wouldn't come up to stay on the units main menu. The AUX cable doesn't work with my 2011 Yukon and the FM transmitter is terrible. Kinda disappointing. Going to try connecting it to a separate speaker.

Easy to install
Easy to install, does everything it should. I'm still a little skeptical, but time will tell how long it lasts.
